- Plugged it inside himself but noting happened.
- Near-death turned the switch ON and he got rinnegan.
- But too late already on the death bed so sucked Juubi's chakra to live.
- gave his rinnegan eyes to Nagato secretly (might have had put the cursed seal as well)
- One day got a wounded boy.
- Saved him and put a cursed seal on his heart.
- collected his background details through Zetsu.
- controlled some mist shinobis.
- made them to kidnap rin when Minato was on the mission (scared of Minato Lol)
- nailed three tails into her and put a cursed seal in her heart and controlled her as well.
- staged for her death either through Kakashi or through Mist shinobis to make Obito mad.
- Obito fell into the trap and mouse got trapped.
- Obito danced as Madara said.
- But then Nagato failed
- Obito planned for himself. (who cares about Madara)
- Madara got revived surprisingly. (Obito got his a** handed to Kabuto)
- Madara danced for Obito.
- Obito had a match with Kakashi.
- He knew he has a cursed seal on his heart and hence unable to become the Juubi Jinchuuriki.
- Got himself pierced with chidori and got rid of the seal.
- Obito returned with a wounded body. Madara tried to took control to resurrect himself by controlling the curse seal on Obito.
- Surprisingly he failed to control Obito. Obito became Juubi Jinchuuriki.
- Obito unknowingly prepared everything what Madara wanted. then got his a** handed by Naruto and Sasuke.
- Madara took the chance and revived himself.
-And now Madara is dancing according to (Kishi's) PLAN.

btw about the scared of Minato thing, it could mean that if minato was there he would have killed those ninja's and could have saved kakashi and rin which would have ended up in ruining madara's plan on turning obito to the dark-side!
