So why did Madara need Obito?

He had already had the plan to plant his eyes into Nagato, so when ready, B Zetsu could have possesed him and use Rinne Tensei.

Reasons:

1. Plot/Kishi logic.
2. Kishi didn't think at that moment of Madara as the Akatsuki puppeteer.
3. BZ couldn't have overhelmed Nagato.

And imagine Madara being back during, the Chunnin Arc time let's say, I believe he would have stormed all the villages for the bijuus.

Plus he needed Obito to spread fear within the Ninja world by using his moniker (This one called Madara) While everyone was focused on Obito, Black Zetsu was able to do what he did best. Work unnoticed behind the scenes. I honestly don't have an issue with how Madara's plan was implimented..........

Yup, in the end, his plan was indeed successful. But as powerful as he was, he didn't need anybody to capture the beasts had he been revived, he could have done it by himself. (Double-Rinnegan Madara)

madara got his plan from reading the uchiha stone tablet that black zetsu tamperd with its a 100 percent blaack zetsus plan
obito was only nessesary beacause madara lacked being able to fufill zetsu's plan by himself (he got old)
