So, in 647, we learned that Madara intends to 'switch' with Obito using Hashirama's Senjutsu. He seems to be planning to turn Hashirama's Edo Tensei into one of his Paths, like Obito did with the resurrected Jinchuuriki. How this will help, however, is up in the air.
The first possibility is that Madara will have Hashirama use Rinne Tensei to return him to life. From what we've seen in the past, when someone is controlled by the Rinnegan they 'gain' the Dojutsu in some form. So while he can't revive himself, he might be able use Hashirama as a proxy. This is the only option that will allow him to become a Jinchuuriki, since he needs to be alive to do so.
The second possibility is that Madara intends to use Hashirama's Senjutsu-enchanced Mokuton to subdue Obito and take control of the Shinju without becoming it's Jinchuuriki. This would allow him to control the Infinite Tsukiyomi regardless of his status. I personally think this is the most likely option.
