Madara's Knowledge

Does Madara know about the eight gates?
He made a comment saying "you're underestimating me if you are not using *red steam*.." as guy opened the seventh gate. This to me, suggests that he knows about the gates. It just seems weird to me that he made that specific comment about it when guy and lee are the only two people we have seen to use it.
If anyone has made a thread about this already, I apologize.

Well, alot of people have known about the eight gates. For someone to know that the eighth gate kills you it means that there's a possibility that someone has opened it.

But Madara was smart, experienced, and knew a fast majority about ninjutsus. It's really no suprise that he'd have information on something as well known as the eight gates

It doesn't really surprise me at all. He probably knows more about jutsu than Orochimaru. Madara has lived (sort of) well past his natural life span. And since he couldn't really go anywher or do anything, he has probably gathered a ton of knowledge on not only Uchiha related jutsu, but most other jutsu as well.
