Come on, you know he won't do that. He will fight, and perhaps even do some damage, but it won't be anything serious or even lasting.
He will only buy some time before someone else (Naruto/Sasuke perhaps, although I doubt they will recover that quickly) is ready to get into Madara's way.

Highly doubt Kishi is killing off a major character and has dedicated 3 chapters to him so he can just "buy time".

Madara won't be defeated, but he'll be damn near a bloody pulp.

We know Gai since the beginning, thats well over 10 years (IRL), Kishi surely isn't going to troll him. Sure he won't beat him but he will push him very close to his limit.

I expect that Gai will overpower Madara and die (reaching his limit) just before he delivers the finishing blow to Madara. 8th Gate would live up to the hype and Naruto and Sasuke still would get a chance to shine.

If it would be like this, 8th gate will be blown completely out of relations, and the Juubi Jinchuuriki, THE plotdefining powerup Madara (and Obito) worked for the whole manga to achieve, would look like crap.

I mean, come on, all the major characters like Naruto, Sasuke, the Hokages etc. pulled out their very best moves against Obito Juubi Jin, and only beat him with the help of every shinobi on the battlefield - and now a much more powerful Madara Juubi Jin should be nearly defeated by Gai, a single side character?
