So, as I had time on my hands, I decided to make a brief wallie on the changes in the character of Madara.

Now, Madara was a good person at the start, then he gained Sharingan, and turned neutral. Then he changed his ways again and his hatred for Senjus seemed to slowly disappear after Konoha was formed. After Hashirama was appointed the Hokage, he got filled with rage, as obviously he felt the Uchihas were being mistreated once more. However, Tobirama was right, that a person vulnerable to emotions wouldn't be a stable leader. In rage, he left the village and turned rogue, fighting almost endless battles with Hashirama, until he was seemingly killed by Hashirama. Finally, he obtained Wood Release and implanted his Rinnegan onto Nagato. Stole a Sharingan from a dead Uchiha, and then manipulated a 13 year old to follow his plan by masterminding Rin's death, a trigger along with the Uchihas' sensitive behavior, made a 13 year old, a person who slaughtered countless Mist Ninjas and plunged the world into war. Madara got revived, until Obito revealed that he never saw Madara as an ally. Madara was egoistic, looked down upon ninjas, and loved to toy with people by testing his powers. Never seemingly showing any emotions except some smirks, until Gai thrashed him badly. Finally, he started the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Madara stressed upon the concept of peace quite some times. He loved to battle, yes, but in the end, all he wanted was true peace. He even told Naruto not to interfere with everyone's happiness. His 4 brothers' death, and then Izuna, had mentally made him mad. As Tobirama said, when an Uchiha experienced loss, his brain would sprout a special chakra in the optic nerves, and thus the Sharingan would manifest, an eye, that reflected the feelings of the wielder. The more advanced the eyes, the darker the person became.

Naruto lost his parents, lost his mentor to Pein, lost comrades in the war, saw thousands of shinobi being slaughtered around him, and still remained sane.

Madara, in fact, is a very cruel person and would go as far as to mastermind a young girl's death just to fulfill his plans. However, Madara doesn't want others to suffer. The Infinite Tsukuyomi is a means for him, to create a world, wherein there's no bloodshed, no wars and stuff, he would basically control the world. We all thought, it was for Madara to become the ultimate shinobi and rule over everyone. However, it seems it isn't like that.

Naruto and the others are realists, well, Naruto not really, but well. This war has atleast united the Five Great Nations and they did work in unison.
In the Infinite Tsukuyomi, everyone's dream is fulfilled, but in the real world it wouldn't be completely possible. Sacrifices have been made, and the shinobis have come to accept the reality and the trauma of sacrifices, as well as the value. Madara is obviously disillusioned so much, that he literally created a fake utopian world wherein all this was possible. This is why comrades are important. Kishimoto stressed on that. Sharing your pain with others, and slowly accepting it, as well as toughening up is what makes a shinobi. A shinobi is one that guards from the darkness.
Realistically speaking, peace would never be achieved, because as long as humans live, negative emotions exist, evil exists and so does corruption and brainwashing.

I don't really know how Kishimoto will show the concept of peace further, but Madara is a very well written character. Has the typical arrogance of a Shounen villain, but he doesn't kill just for killing. He gets shit done, which is great. And he's a tough son of a *****.

And, Madara has constantly been lonely, he never spoke out his thoughts to anyone close to him, all this loneliness, coupled with hatred, has led to him becoming a person who would even kill for achieving his plans.

The only way I can see Madara going, is that he would be close to dying, and realize the mistakes he had made and regret his actions. All his arrogance and deceiving led to getting stabbed by Kaguya's will, BZ. I would love to see his ego and his arrogance being crushed by the alliance.

"Those who dig graves for others, fall in their own graves."

Basically,
>was neutral
>turned neutral good
>turned mentally unstable, obsessed with power and revenge

Remained the same until now. I guess, his character has the least fluctuations until now. He has stayed true to his character.
I wish however, Kishi developed Madara a lot better, making him use a lot of Taijutsu, the 5 elements, Genjutsu, more EMS techs, more Rinnegan techs and lots of Juubi Jin techs which Obito used. I feel, Kishi just hypes up a character, maintains the hype for some chapters, and kills off/neturalizes the character by another powerful character or some random unexplained power.

As a villain, I think Tobi(Obito) is better than Madara. Obito before being unmasked got shit done.
Madara got shit done too, but his massive ego and arrogance brought him down.

All that Uchihas are basically emo stuff is childish, look at it from a realistic point of view. I can't imagine someone losing their family, friends and what not in a war and shit.

And, thus ends the wallie. Thank you for reading (assuming you survived reading this massive wall of text).
