In the latest chapter Madara stated that his plan is to take another "chunk" of Hashirama.
Seeing how Hashi is an edo and has no cells to give the only thing for Madara to take is probably Hashi's soul, but what would this accomplish.
Theory
As we know the Sage's Elder Son were given the Sage's eyes and the younger son inherited the Sage's body.
The Sage's Elder Son most likely had the Rinnengan and for his descendants to gain the same eyes they must go through a list of hardships as well as obtain Senju DNA.
Of course the reason why the uchiha start off much weaker than the Senju is because their emotions (the source of Uchiha power) were sealed long ago, but still to achieve the Rinnengan they must have Senju DNA.
Now the Sage's younger son was given the Sage's body and his descendants are the Senju.
Though all Senju probably have enhanced strength the only Senju that has displayed a power strong enough to be call the power close to a Sage is Hashirama with accelerated healing, enhanced strength, and mokuton no jutsu
, but what this power is still imperfect much like EMS.
What if in order to achieve the perfect Sage body something is needed from the Uchiha to become like with the Rinnengan. This could be what Madara's aim is!!
By combining the body and soul of an Uchiha and a Senju it might become possible to reach the same level as the SO6P (before absorbing the Juubi).
I know this is a bit of a stretch this much from a single page in the manga, but what the heck I had fun.:x3:
