I think that was always the problem with this manga. Ever since the pain arc, when naruto's mission became world peace it became too unrealistic. Simple answer is there will always be war and villians. Kishi wrote himself into a corner. That's why the story has gone downhill from the pain arc.

No one is perfect, can you claim to be so? there are many examples of people who have made stupid choices in the NV. IT is not the best solution to the answer of peace in NV, they have no free will. Will eventually be turned into WZ clones for a War they did not want in the first place. Madara had the right intentions but did not go about execute them the right way but at least Hagamoro tried fixing his mistake. Tried is the operative word since he pretty much repeated the same thing with giving Naruto and Sasuke power resulting in Sasuke making his move which of course Hagamoro already knew of when they were talking to him.

Hagoromo was wrong and he failed to create a world with lasting peace. However I don't think that he made a mistake entrusting the worlds future with Naruto and Sasuke. Remember the toads prophecy? Naruto is obviously who it was about and it's said he will bring forth peace....or destruction. It depends whether Naruto is successful.

I wouldn't say Madara was right. Perhaps on the surface it seems so, however we know for a fact Madara was misled and IT wasn't exactly what he believed it to be. Not only that but how is putting everyone in genjutsu a good solution? That's just giving up on defeating the cycle of hatred. Plus, kaguya was planning on creating an army with the IT victims. Sounds like IT is a sham leading to more destruction and hatred.
