Madara, Obito, and Nagato, the 3 major villains of part 2, were all shown to be idealistic and sensitive as youths.
All 3 gave up on the system in despair as a result of some tragic event, then used evil methods to try to accomplish peace.
Although their intentions weren't evil, their actions were.

People can't be judged by their intentions. They can only be judged by their actions.

Madara was evil, but will probably be redeemed similar to how the other two were.

What ever "path" Madara is evil, because he is becoming a dedicator to the world; taking people's will away from them and draining their Chakra to wield the most powerful Chakra. His disgusting actions cannot be tolerated at all. He tried to attack the village and people he united, because of revenge and further reaching Rikudou's power through Hashirama's power; he killed the closest people to Nagato and Obito, then brainwashed them and corrupted them; after coming back from the deaf, he literlly slaughtered an entire division with a meteor to test his power; and we can see how bloodlusted he becomes when killing somebody, which he calls "dancing" and admits in how fun it is. If you don't consoider all this evil, then go outside your house and become social to learn.

Madara is evil, sociopath, machine killer.

I'm a Madara fan, so don't call me a hater.

I'm pretty sure that towards the end, Madara did become quite evil. Don't you remember how happy he looked when he told Obito he manipulated him all this time? He didn't have the smallest shred of sympathy for the fact that Obito had a miserable life (because of him), and he seemed quite proud of it.

He did evil things. Did he want to turn out the way he did? No, but the way the Uchiha were treated caused him to try and make things what he considered fair. Bitterness can make any good person do bad things.

Let me repeat, bitterness can make any good person do evil things. We see that in real life. Good people driven to a point of insanity because something drives them to go bonkers. Madara Liked a good challenge too, hence his joy in fighting Hashirama all the time. If you remember the way he reacted when edo-hashi hit the battle field. That was his focus. He was willing to ignore whatever else for the time being, even his goal to annihalate the united front with obito.

But he did a lot of terrible things and ruined a lot of lives, so...he turned out to be pretty evil through his actions.
