Makes sense really, hence why Hashirama noticed something (the real Madara) at the top of the cliff, Hashi has Sennin power, perhaps he could slightly perceive Madara's presence, but just assumed he killed him, also explains why the stab wound on Madz' chest remains, so it wasn't Izanagi.

I agree with you and I still think that Limbo is Madara's MS technique. ( I have my reasons to believe it though )
For example, Sasuke was able to see Madara's Limbo through his left eye. But Madara wasn't able to see Sasuke's left eye technique. Madara still has rinnegan right?

Clearly i'm going to agree since i also created a small theory on this. i don't believe this is solely a Rinnegan technique as no other person to use the rinnegan has used this. i think people with rinnegan have the ability to see limbo but this is clearly unique to Madara. It perfectly explains what hashirama sensed in sage mode. Hashirama also had the spirit of Ashura in him like Naruto that also sensed it.

Naruto sensed Indra in Sasukes body. But not the Limbo Madara due to beeing the reincarnation of Ashura, he sensed it because of the sage mode.
