That was stated by the grand daughter of his greatest enemy. Madara was and is still the ledgedary ninja we have heard of about throughout the naruto series. At the the start of the Shippuuden series, Madara mentioned by the Kyuubi. Not only that, but it's a test to Madara'a visual and natural strength. "Eyes with such power and chakra more sinister than my own…just as Uchiha Madara was!" So, from the start we can see that Madara is indeed strong. Even later on in the series, just using Madara's name started the 4th Shinobi war.
Madara loves to fight!
During the series, we learn that Madara has seen his fair share of warfare. Madara has carried the weight of the Uchiha clan on his shoulders and he has done so with his techniques and battle knowledge. Even though he's fought countless times and even battled Senju, that isn't enough for Madara. Madara contiues to enjoy battle long after he has died. When resurrected in chapter 561 and returning to the battle field. Madara stated that was a view he had not enjoyed for a long time. It's what he's good at!
To go along with he's love for battle, he skills, abilites and tools match up. 1. Being an Uchiha his was blessed with one of the three great dojutsu and now with his current rinnegan he is blessed with having two of the three. Also being and Uchiha he was passed down his powerful chakra and spiritual energy. (This is where I believe the power of the susanoo and the power to control it comes from.) Madara is exceptional at using various types of swords and bladed weapons. We have already have seen this to some extent in the manga. Madara uses Kama( a Japanese sickled weapon) as well as his Gunbai (a Japanese Fan) Madara's Gunbai
At the moment, it seems that Madara's fan is in the possesion of Tobi/Obito but we'll save that for another thread. lolAnyway Madara's fan serves many more purposes than just to strengthen his fire techs. What it is used for also ties into his role as the Leader of The Uchiha and his battle experience. A number of war fans were used in Japanese feudal warfare, of varying size and material, for different purposes. One of the most significant, and perhaps most interesting, uses was as a signalling device. Signalling fans came in three varieties: a tasseled pom-pon, a solid iron fan, or a wood and paper one, very similar to the gunbai used today by sumo referees. The art of fighting with war fans is tessenjutsu. So, from all this fan info we can see how it ties to Madara?
