Technically it's because his transmigration didn't fit with any paralels. Indra and Ashura don't team up to defeat Indra, they team up to defeat someone outside the transmigratory BS, like Obito or Kaguya.

And selfish peace is peace in the moment like meditating, everyone would've turned into zetsus but no one would really know and they'd get to live their dreams before that happens. So what's the problem why not let the world end when you die?
