Madara is considered widly as being a badass but looking at his story so far he has not shown really anything that sets him apart from other Shonen villians. Despite Kishi's habit of humanizing his villian he has so far not really given Madara any shades of grey. Look at the chapters and dialogue of Madara it seems to me that he is essentailly a standard Shonen Jump villian. He has all the traits and flaws of one:

He is extremely arrogant. This is a standard Quality in a Shonen villian, if you want proof go check out Frieza and Aizen from DBZ and Bleach respectively.

He underestimates the hero. Just like Frieza and Aizen and many others he severely underestimates the hero. This is a common flaw in villians, it often is what leads to their downfall: for example Harry Potter, Star Wars, DBZ, Bleach, and Inheritance Cycle.

He is extremely powerful. Like many others he has god like power which makes him near invincible. As with many other villians he is far more powerful than the hero.

He is brilliant. Madara is a brilliant strategist and manipulater very much like Aizen. Is another standard trait of a main villian.

He has a serious disregard for life. Very much like other main villians he is completely sociopathic and will kill without remorese.

He lacks shades of grey. He doesn't shown any form of once upon a time being a nice guy. This is a deviation from other villians in Naruto where the villians were shown to have shades of grey for example Nagato and Obito. The habit of humanizing the villians in Naruto was something that really seperated it from other Shonen manga.

So in conclusion Madara unlike the other villians in Naruto is not really all that different from a standard Shonen Villian. Hopefully Kishi will humanize Madara in the future because that has always been something that I felt that made Naruto stand out from other Shonen Jump manga.

I think Madara's a butthurt psycho who's mad at Hashirama.

Hashirama > Madara

He was just the best example I could find. But their is also Frieza from DBZ and Seimei from Nurarihyon's no Mago. If memory serves me correctly he ran along the same lines as well.

Interesting find. O_O
And all this time I thought Madara was unique... Not. :|
But still an interesting find, nonetheless. :)

He's motivated by the desire to bring peace to everyone and level the playing field. He has an ambivalent love-hate relationship with his greatest foe (Hashi). He's more complex than you're giving him credit for.

I see most of your points but most villains want power and to rule ****
But he represents the older son and wants peace through power

I think people like him and Oro because all the bad guys in this series turn good.

I am hoping Kishi expands on that. Kishi has always made his villians unique and I hope to see the same with Madara.

That's Obito talking. It doesn't mean sh*t, especially since the real Madara didn't mention his brother even once since he got resurrected. He just doesn't give a f*ck about him, or the Konoha and Uchihas.

Yeah, he's not terribly special, though it's hard to make someone such (I'm writing a book myself, however I think I can say I'm being rather ... unique :)) He's stereotypical enough that when I saw only the "Madara Uchiha a Standard..." on the front page, I guessed the next 2 words correctly. He's not terribly original lol. But he's original enough, I think. But enough =/= my standards when writing.

Yeah this, when he come back all he says his brother left him was "his eyes and hate"

Madara is just a giant bitch, honestly.

Nah... I like him just the way it is. Some people are just bad for no reason at all. At least we wont have to see another soppy flashback after he dies.

So I guess Uchiha and Senju weren't the top clans, because what Obito says "doesn't mean ____". Or maybe Tobirama never created the Konoha Military Police Force.

You know damn well that's not what he meant, Obito used Sasuke's emotions to get through to him, remember how he said the Kyuubi incident was a "natural disaster" to imply that the Uchiha were falsely blamed?

He was doing the same exact thing here, Madara doesn't give a fucc about his brother, but Obito tried to make it as though Madara made some giant sacrifice for the clan, when really he Madara didn't even care.

I meant anything that Obito said regarding the emotional aspect of Madara doesn't mean sh*t.

Don't fu*king twist my motherfu*king words.
