Did he unlock rinnegan during the fight with hashi or after ? If he got it during that obviously means senju dna is not needed to unlock rinnegan . SO was it before or after the fight ??

Yeah i guess its still unclear , After makes sense ,but in other situations in the manga extreme danger or rage awoke things. Sasuke and naruto vs haku. Naruto and sasuke in the valley , sasuke vs bee awoke ametarasu etc etc

Yeah doesnt say specifically . another thing that makes me think senju dna is not needed is the sages elder son eyes kind of look like rinnegan
