Might sound dumb but....... With madara having rin and sharingan how could he not resurrect him self after escaping Edo... All he would have to do is put some fool in genjutsu, place the rinnagon in them. Make them sacrifice them self and BOOM madara is back and ready to host the 10 tails!!!

Also, I doubt anyone can perform the Rinne Tensei Jutsu right after the transplant has been performed.

I know it's a procedure, I didn't think when I made this post that I would have to list the surgical procedures lol. Plus I didn't mean that right now at this point in the war he should stop and revive himself. He has had numerous amounts of time before to do this if he wanted! I also don't believe he would be dead if he was alive. Yes he has taken hits but you would to if u knew u were immortal!
