He was Anbu Captain and his father was the leader of the clan. Shisui who was another Uchiha prodigy was his mentor who unlocked Mangeykou and helped him unlock his. He also grew up in the time of war and Itachi explained how Uchihas use to abuse Izanagi and needeed Izanami to stop it.

Itachi met obito at the age of 13, so youre claiming that Itachi knew everything he now knows now at the age of 21? Without even the slightest bit of mentoring from obito? Who was not only older but was way more knowledgeable in his use of Izagani and not only that but he's the last remaining uchiha and was taught everything by madara. Which would mean that he would hold all of the uchiha's information so idk why you think they would never interact with eachother that just seems ridiculous :shrug:

Itachi was able to find weaknesses of strong jutsu's in the blink of an eye lol, besides i don't even think that Obito has the time to summon Gedo Mazou, another thing i want to tell you, Zetsu stated that Occular prowers are only as strong as its wielder, and Itachi mastered the Sharingan at 8 and Obito didn't have his Rinnegan that long besides Itachi is better with the Sharingan that Obito anyways. Obito was talking about the fact that Itachi would have killed him if he knew about Kamui because Obito knew that Itachi was capable of finding a weakness. Obito summoning the Mazou is meaningless anyway, Itachi already admitted he was inferior to a weaker Obito and how is Itachi better with the Sharingan? come back when he controls a Bijuu, a Perfct Jin and has placed enemy's in Sharingan based Genjutsu for 50+ chapters

Why the argument? Itachi clearly said it, manga proves it. No proof to suggest that he did lie about Tobi being his mentor. No shame in having Obito as your teacher anyway, it doesn't make Itachi seem any weaker.

Anyway, he was his mentor. After all, Naruto is pretty much based on students surpassing their elders/masters, and when the student does surpass the master in most stories, its always badass. Right now Tobi and Itachi are fairly equal to be honest, maybe Itachi wins by a fraction.
