when you think of yourself as the god of war, then you dont back down from any fight, and honestly i think the 5 kage are more at risk than madara. But i think in the end Madara's pride and stubborness will be the death of him.

also i think madara would rather stay dead than back down, he lives for the smell of blood and chaos on the battlefield, if he loses in the end i bet he will be happy, since the shinobi will prove they are not as weak as he thought
