Madara acknowledges/knows of the jutsu eighth gate. He says "You're underestimating me if you're not using *Red Steam". He must have seen it being used or had been told about the inner gates from some other taijutsu master. Plus he must know how powerful the eighth gate is in itself. The statment also implies that he knows that only the eighth gate can doing damage to him and anything lower will not be worth it.

Yeah I was supposed to make a similar thread like you but oh well....

I noticed Guy in the last page said he was going to become the " Red Beast " as Madara stated earlier as Read steamp or something like that. So yeah he knows about the Eight Gates Open.

He is an experienced shinobi who saw and learnt many things, he even knew Sage's family affairs.

Him knowing 8 inner gates is like a history teacher knowing French Revolution. İt would be weird if he was ignorant to subject.

Honestly it didn't surprise me at all, Madara has been around for several decades, he was one of the founders of Konoha, he read the entire uchiha stone tablet, no wonder he pretty much knows about everything.
That would also explain Obito's knowledge on almost every jutsu.

He surely would have known about 8 inner gates...
