Was Madara talking about Orochimaro when he said "..an acquaintance of an underling of mine showed me this"? Obito or Zetsu being the underling and their acquaintance being Orochimaro? Or someone else not introduced yet?

Madara was referring to Kabuto. When Madara was first revived, Kabuto greeting him (via Muu) and told Madara that he had modified his body. So when Madara said "an acquaintance of an underling of mine", he meant "an acquaintance (Kabuto) of an underling (Obito) of mine".

I was 2 second away from making a thread about it but punked out. I think it's Orochimaru too cause If it was Obito he would have said it. Obviously we all know it was Kabuto that showed him so if the underling isn't Obito it has to be Orochimaru right?

Why would it be Orochimaru? Kabuto is the one who implanted the cells.

I could be wrong but I don't believe it was kabuto he was returned to the state he was in when he was alive hence no eyes so the modifications to his edo body shouldn't make much difference

you forget Kabuto learned from Orochimaru but for some reason I'm slightly considering Danzo

While *********** has overall better translations sometimes Mangapanda translates some parts better. Often it's best to read both versions to get a broader picture of what it means.

"An acquaintance of an underling of mine showed me this..."
"This is something a partner of one of my men randomly did."
So just fill in the blanks with both of these. Who are Madara's men? White Zetsu, Black Zetsu, Obito. All the other Akatsuki were not formed until after Madara died so he didn't get to meet them. Kabuto does not count as one of Madara's men because he blackmailed his way under Obito's wing.
"An acquantance of one of my men randomly did this to me."
Sure, we know it was Orochimaru's research originally but Madara has been gone for a long time and didn't know that. Orochimaru only experimented on Hashirama's cells about thirteen years ago before he left the village. So from Madara's perspective it is KABUTO'S WORK (Plus Kabuto was the one who modified him, not Orochimaru).

Madara did not die with that Hashirama face on his chest since he could not replicate Hashirama perfectly. At best he had the imperfect Zetsu material. Hashirama noticed the face and assumed it was Madara's work but Madara corrected him on that. What's so confusing on this?

I didn't think this was a problem at all to figure out who Madara was talking about. It was quite obvious to me that the one Madara reference as the acquaintance was Kabuto and the underling was Obito. Simple as that. If you want proof, here it is. If you want to read it for yourself go to chapter 560, 561, 575, and 576. I don't see how anyone could even think he was talking about anyone other than Obito and Kabuto.

The question you should be asking is why wouldn't he say Orochimaru when the natural assumption is Kabuto ( I assume saying Obito was a mistake). As Kabuto told Hashirama he altered his body.

Another good question would be if Madara knew Oro would have experimented with his body, why didn't he know that he was altered when he was revived, or have put that in his moon's eye plan?

You guys are dumb as hell.

"An acquaintance of an underling of mine " = Kabuto

"Apparently other people had my same idea" = Orochimaru when altering Danzo's body
