If Madara really wanted to go heads up against the guys they would alle be dead now. So stop giving Gai so much credit for beating up on a guy that stood still.

It's always like this in Naruto, the bad guy gets beaten up and seemingly is hurt, then it turns out he was fine all along and then starts to make a comback. Just like when Madara pretended the 5 Kage had defeated him, the suddenly showing his PS.

Next chapters Madara will say something like this "Ok, you've had your go, now it's my turn to have some fun"
