Upon re-reading some of the manga, I have discovered that it is very likely that Madara is not dead.
First, let's examine Black Zetsu's story of the Juubi:

Now let's rewind to when Sage of Six Paths Madara was severely damaged by Gai and Naruto:
The Juubi/Kaguya Spoke to Madara and wanted him to absorb her. How do you know that it was Kaguya speaking? Take a look at what happened after he absorbed the Juubi:
That is Kaguya's face! The way "The time to become one has come" was purposely put over an illustration of Kaguya's face, it's almost as if Kishimoto wanted to foreshadow this.
When Black Zetsu attacked Madara, he did not die, instead, it triggered a transformation. This is when Kaguya took over Madara's body:
Black Zetsu also waited until Madara casted the Infinite Tsukuyomi before betraying him and triggering the transformation in Chapter 678.
Thus, conditions for a host for Kaguya are likely:
With Kaguya and Madara now being one entity/Madara being a host for Kaguya, he cannot be dead yet, or else, Kaguya would be dead as well.
