Either Hashirama's DNA, or just because powerful shinobi can sense other powerful shinobi far away. Hell, Naruto can sense the group coming their way too, probably.

Sensing a chakra as strong as hashirama's is not a feat.He has one of the strongest chakras in the manga.How hard is it to sense his presence?????They fought forever when they were alive.Is it strange that madara sensed his rivals chakra???Absolutely not.
