Madara is a smart man but why go through the trouble to achieve peace when there is no one to go home to?

Why couldn't he be like other anime character, just leave the shinobi world and live in peace. Nobody didn't like him, his clan turned their back on him. His brothers are gone. Like he have no reason to achieve peace at that point.

I think if he had casted IT on everybody, he would have gotten depress since there is no one to share peace with, then undo the IT.

He would be inside the IT as well if he managed to kill Naruto and Sasuke. So he wouldn't be alone, he was creating his home. In a sense he was returning home because real world is hell while this dream world is heaven.

He didn't become corrupt. He casted the infinite tsukuyomi and gave everyone pleasant dreams as planned. He didn't know about the white Zetsu thing.

OT: It doesn't matter that Madara didn't have any family left. It was simply self-sacrifice. Madara was creating peace for everyone else.
That is what true heroes do. Besides, if he got bored he could just train with the rinne sharingan and rikudou power to learn how to use creation of all things to create his own society and dimension.
