Manipulating the Uchiha and making them what they are, starting the Curse of Hatred, starting the Akatsuki, causing the 4th Shinobi world war, etc. all to bring the demon Kaguya. Madara would have destroyed the world, not saved it like he thought, all because of a lie Black Zetsu wrote down a thousand years ago. All part of his plan.
Black Zetsu is a monster, Madara is an unwitting pawn. Simple as that.
