When madara has both rinnegan and hashirama's sennin mode, then he can defeat hashirama.

For now, he only has hashirama's sennin mode.

I think what Hipster Madara is saying that rods were likely put in his back before Hashirama was able to immobilize Madara. If that is the case, Madara had a chance to control him before Hashirama used the seal to hold him down.

But it really doesn't matter anyway. I don't know why anyone takes this Hashi/Madara thing serious. Hashirama wasn't brought back at 100%, and we clearly see Madara wasn't even fighting with his full arsenal either, so it's not like this fight does anything to say who truly is stronger.

Hashirama is still the only of the two with a true victory over the other, so Hashi fans should be happy with that. While Madara clearly gets the award for badass of the century and even got a nice sig worthy panel of him gripping Hashirama by the throat, so Madara fans should be happy too. This past fight meant nothing for either of them
