Living Madara never defeated living Hashirama. Madara himself stated an Edo cannot display the full power of the subject. Madara had Rinnegan and Wood Release while Hashirama was depending on his own power and was restricted in power from being an edo.

Madara is a mastermind and a manipulator, able to control the situation and brainwash others to do his job. He did that to Obito and intentionally Nagato. He set-up events to lead the death of their beloved ones, and used their hatred as his advantage to do his dirty work. He had already set-up insurance to make sure they don't betray him, such as the Puppet Seal on Obito's heart and through Obito would make sure Nagato follows the plan. He may have had few failures in his plan, like the birth of Naruto and Sasuke, but everything would have went to plan. That is why Madara will always be the greatest creation of Masashi Kishimoto, villain and character in Naruto.

I think you are a retarded Madara wanker. Madara was a total failure who spent his life before and after death brawling without proving anything.

(1) Madara wanted to avenge his borthers, but got the last brother he was left with killed. (Tobirama says hi).
(2) he wanted to avenge Izuna and destroy the Senju, but got his ass handed to him.
(3) Madara was a pitiful leader who got abandoned by his clan, and became the first terrorist of the Narutoverse.
(4) In his terrorist bunker, he gave his eyes to Nagato, but Nagato did not give a shit about his plan
(5) Madara thought he got Obito, but Obito was on his own agenda
(6) Madara thought he was going to rule the world by his own will, but all he was doing was the will of Kaguya
(7) Madara died without doing anything on his own, without achieving anything.

Madara was Kaguya's Pawn, and he did not become the ruler he wanted to be.​
