BZ was an ally,who attacked him from behind instead of fighting face to face.No one was able to defeat Madara ONE on ONE and FAIRLY,so Madara being cowardly defeated doesn't make him look bad.

He took advantage of his weakpiont which Madara told him as a kid.It's not like he figured it out on his own.And Madara forcefully controlled the Kyuubi,it's not like the Kyuubi was willingly helping him.

It took alot of chakra to control the Kyuubi,and have him fight.
