It's pretty apparent since he always keep going on about Hashirama, even with Hashiramas face in his chest and rinnegan, he still think hashirama could beat him. He is doing a concious effort to show what hashirama is capable by using himself as a scaleboard. He lost to hashirama while he had perfect susanoo + kyuubi and i even starting to think hashirama was holding back because if you look at the picture and we know that a picture says more then a thousand words lol, madara was truly giving it his all while hashi though injured had a look of restraint on his face and i hope you do understand that they've fought plenty of times before their final battle. In all those fights Hashirama was the man while madara looked nervous as he was basically testing the waters, he may have been arrogant and thought he could take anyone with his eyes and sure he was the strongest in his clan but that meant nothing when it came to hashirama, when he stood against hashirama, he was a boy in a mans world. Hashirama never sacrificed his brother, he never was powerhungry, he could control several bijuus(i think all) while madara could only control the nine-tails, he had a smexy wife while madara had his hand, he was chosen as hokage while madara was not, both senju and uchiha respected him while they didn't care about madaras emo tendencies, hashirama was an overall shinobi, he could do sealing, weaponry, scrolls and all that stuff but madara only had his eyes and some katon but hashi can counter that with water, then madara noticed hashis morning wood and went gay, now he thinks about hashirama 24/7, ****ed up uchiha man, atleast think of his hot wife, not him. Anyways, this is why madara is a little boy compared to hashirama.

Im confused why would madara hold a candle to hashirama?. By a candle i take it you mean a lit candle, if that is the case wouldnt that just get the better of hashirama since he uses wood and a lit candle (fire) > wood;

In my country holding the candles to someone means that the person who symbolically holds the candle is standing next to the bed of the couple , so he's so close to them. Sorry cant explain it better. But I dont know why this guy gave this title to the thread.
