Until he died for the second time. If he was as badass (and I don't just mean power--I mean the ENTIRE picture) as his Prime self (his generation's world war & Hashirama fight) then when he had the Juubi & hashirama's Sage/DNA he never would have been ganked. But he was arrogant, pompous, overconfident & let his guard down due to seeing himself as completely unstoppable (wich plot armor or no is not 100% true)
