Please read the complete stuff if you want to know the exact (my) reason behind Madara's trump card

Madara is really a good strategist. The moment he read the story with his EMS, he planned everything for himself because he had lost hope in the Shinobi World.
He wants to become the next Sage of the Six Paths.
Not like his previous life or like Nagato or like Obito.
He wants to be the complete Sage.
Madara was the only one who had the EMS and knew that obtaining the EMS is not easy.
Initially he fought Hashirama to become like Sage, that is, for awakening the "Rinnegan".
With Rinnegan he got the technique of summoning the Juubi's body from the moon.
With Rinnegan he further read the story which clicked his mind for the actual power.
That is his Trump Card.... The Fruit grown on the Juubi.
He already read that the God Tree is Juubi, also he knew that Senju and Uchihas were once one in the Sage.
So he cultivated Hashirama's DNA by using Juubi as the catalyst.
Why he cultivated it?
Juubi's final form was a tree as well as Hashirama's DNA was Mokuton/Wood.
Still why? Why he felt need for the Zetsus? Why he kept himself alive?
Because he was waiting for the fruit to grow. Afterall, all the conditions were met. But the fruit didn't grew.
It had one thing missing, The Juubi's chakra. The actual chakra of the Juubi which was split in Nine Lifeforms were missing for the process.
Madara transplanted his Rinnegan into a refuge Uzumaki family's son Nagato in order to revive himself in the future.
Later on Obito came, Madara said the story of Senju and Uchiha, So6P, Juubi and the hopeless Shinobi World. But he did not said something crucial to even Obito.
He taught Obito the Rikudo's jutsus, Dark and Light so that Obito could train Nagato to revive him in the future.
The story of the Juubi and the So6P and his mother can only be read with the EMS. So Madara was carefree about Obito. Because Obito won't get the EMS of his own and to avoid future EMS users Madara made a plan
Madara's plan was Uchiha Massacre. Creating a suspicion in the minds of Konoha elders against the Uchihas at correct timing by the summon of the Kyuubi was the plan for the Mass Murder.
That was the reason, Obito helped Itachi in the massacre. Obito took every Sharingan. Itachi knew nothing and not even Nagato.
But soon Obito started planning for himself. He planned for getting Sasuke's EMS in the future.
Nagato was the only one who could control the Mazo. But Nagato betrayed Obito and died. Then Obito made plans for Sasuke being the next to sync with the Mazo.
Slowly and steadily, most of the Bijuus were sealed inside the Mazo.
Obito took the Rinnegan and declared War on the Shinobi World in order to capture the Hachibi and Kyuubi and then become the Juubi's Jinchuuriki, the next Sage of Six Paths.
But again Kabuto introduced Edo Madara, Obito baffled.
Obito put Zetsu cells on Sasuke because Kabuto was after Sasuke. And Edo Madara was under Kabuto's control. So when the time comes, Obito will personally deal with Kabuto and force him to release the Edo Tensei Jutsu. That's the reason, Obito asked Kabuto about the seal to release the Edo Tensei in order to get rid of Edo Madara.
Edo Madara was surprised at being revived as an Edo instead of in real body. Also Kabuto said that the "other" Madara seems to be not going according to the Plan.
Then the summoning of the Kyuubi failed. Edo Madara understood that the capturing of the Bijuus is still incomplete.
Obito felt restless as he heard Madara's resurrection. But still he had the seals to release the ET so he was continuing the plan.
Later on, Kabuto was forced to use the seal to release the ET, Obito understood from the released souls of the Jinchuurikis and added the last content, the sealed Gin and Kin Brothers, the Kyuubi's chakra.
But Edo Madara arrived at Obito's location. Obito was surprised at Madara but remained calm.
But then onwards, Madara acted carefully because now Obito had the rinnegan. A possibility that Obito knew the history behind the Fruit.
Madara then let Obito handle everything.
He even remained calm when Obito became the juubi's Jinchuuriki.
He waited calmly for the Final form of the Juubi.
And now when the Juubi has reached its final form, Madara is waiting for the fruit to appear once again not making Obito aware of that.
As soon as the fruit appears, Madara will eat it and then become the complete next version of the actual Sage of the Six Paths.
Obito isn't the actual Sage. He's only spamming what Old Madara taught him. That is, the Dark and Light, Rikudo's Jutsus and Uchiha's Kinjutsus.
Sage was called the Sage of six Paths because of the chakra he had inside him. That is the fruit's power, with this power, Sage was capable of sealing the Juubi inside him.
With the fruit's power, Madara can become stronger than the current Obito and takeover his body and become the Juubi's Jinchuuriki.
There was just a rumor that the fruit grows once in 1000 years but no one lived long enough to see that happen. Madara made a hypothesis on the condition of the appearance of the fruit and is still waiting for it to come true.
