watch? screw anime; direct us to a manga chapter if you want to reference things. anime can be inaccurate (I've used it only for a color referece before, but nothing else). and wood is a Kekkei Genkai, not an elemental nature (very advanced elemental nature, but not the type the Rinnegan would unlock). In short, Madara got wood from 1st's DNA. He also probably got Rinnegan from 1st's DNA (no real proof for this, just speculation).

The Rinnegan allows you the ability to quickly master the basic five elements. I don't think it can allow you to master KG type jutsu. The first was the only known REAL user of the wood style kekkei genkai. Yamato, Danzo, Zetsu, and Madara only have it to some degree due to experimentation with Hashirama's DNA which were derived from his cells.

personally i think that he got it from Kabuto. he did get the first's cells from the fight true, but he didn't have the ability to use the element during his lifetime, it's almost certain. he looked at his chest and then said he wanted to try something, and made a moukuton attack. which leads me to believe that Kabuto enabled him to use it. in his life, he probably had the 1st's dna to the extent that tobi and danzo did.
