Madara and Izuna both killed

Their father. Hence why they both awakened MS at the same time. They were already entitled to inherit leadership of the clan but maybe Madara and Izuna decided to end the old man.

What they didnt know was they would unlock a new power. The MS. This gave them an advantage over other ninja except Hashirama and Tobirama(pawned Izuna) .

When Tobirama wounded Izuna ,Izuna decided to give Madara his eyes to make him even stronger. Still no match for the POWER OF GOOD WOOD

Tobirama definitely pawned Izuna... Madara & Izuna's father was probably dying a painfull death, so they wanted to put him out of his misery. An so MS was awakened...
