That´s something I don´t understand:
According to Madara, Nagato has the power to reanimate him, even though Madara died long ago.
When Nagato revived the Konoha people, he told Naruto, it is too late for Jiraya, but he can still save Konoha.
So I always thought there is some timeline for Rinne Tensei.
He also didn´t bring back Yahiko, for whom I believe he would gladly give his life to save him.
So I think there must be some hidden potential with some big requirements, to revive someone who also died long ago.
(maybe for the price of your life?). Soemthing even Obito doesn´t know everything of, because now he has the Rinnegan and he still doesn´t want to revive Rin?? He could revive her and go anywhere he wants with her, his
whole plan was to create a world where Rin lives.....
What do you guys think?

Nagato was weakened when he revived the people of Konoha, which is why only people who had recently died came back. I think if he tapped into the power of the Gedo Mazou and the Bijuu, he could bring back Madara or anyone for that matter.

I believe it takes a substantial amount of chakra to revive those who have been deceased for years.

thats my doubt as well. BUT my bigger doubt is....exactly when obito was going to revive madara and how?(knowing that nagato is no more available) obito could have never guessed that the edomadara brought by kabuto would eventually free himself from this jutsu....
after he allowed the mazou to devour the haachibi and Qb's chakra(from those two pot)....ten tail was on his way......right!!
so he had two ways in his hand to revive madara
1)use the edo tensai learned from kabuto....
2)using edo nagato to do rinnetensai....(my opinion).....which was impossible becoz....nagato's soul trapped in totsuka sword...
.....
OR....
not reviving madara at all...and proceed with tsuki no me plan without madara....
what u say guys??

I think That it would have been possible to bring him back because Madara's spirit still lingered. I think that maybe Madara was waiting to be revived when the Juubi would need a vessel.

madara should have did like wat itachi did and implant the rinnegan so when nagato uses it he automatically gets revive. cause itachi planted amaterasu in sasuke's eyes so that if tobi tries to tell sasuke the truth th amaterasu activates. i feel madara should of done the same with rinne tensei

This + He was revieving hundreds of people, guess you can revive people who died long ago when you are focused on them.

bringing Jiraiya back would serve no purpose he's at the bottom of the ocean as soon as he got revived he would die again

He couldn't revive Jman because he's at the bottom of the Ocean. I forgot who, but either Kabuto or Obito said it themselves. He's too deep in the sea.

It would be pointless reviving Jiariya. His body was deep in the ocean/sea/water and said to be unrecoverable, I believe, by Kabuto.

Interesting theory. Obito doesn't know how to do Edo Tensei. When he asked Kabuto to teach him, he told him the wrong seals.
