In their last fight Lyon was using 1 hand to do hand signs which Gray said made his magic weaker and halved it's power. Lyon now went back to two hands.
Also Lyon would have got Second Origin in the past 7 years and I don't think Gray has imprroved that much even with Second Origin because he was getting harassed by Nullpudding.

hard to say, we still haven't seen lyon fight in a full battle after that 7 year time skip.

I would go for lyon for now, i'm sure he wasn't just sitting around after those long 7 years....

It can be achieved by normal means so you don't need Ultear to unlock it for you.You just need to train hard to get it. Erza already had it which means anyone stronger than her has also got it.
