Chapter 9

Miku ran over to Mitsuki and Taki, making sure to keep an eye on Kuroi.
When she reached them she knelt down by Taki, and examined the damage.

His arms were covered in burns. Did the darkness burn them? His legs were covered in cuts, probably ten times the amount Kikai had. Those weren't the worse wounds, though. In the middle of his chest his clothes were ripped, and it looked like there was a really serious injury there. “Taki! Are you okay?” she asked in fear. She didn't want anybody die! They didn't even fight Kai yet, and Taki was seriously injured.

“W-We already know t-that I won't make it,” he barely made out.

“M-Mitsuki, are you okay?”

“Yeah. Taki, what's wrong?” Mitsuki asked sadly.

Mitsuki didn't even realize that Taki just saved her from Kuroi. Was she really that focused on Kuroi?

“You're a kind kid, Mitsuki. I wish I could spend more time with you. We barely talked to each other these four years,” he said as he grabbed her hand. She was able to see him slowly fading. He was sparkling away like Yaburu!?

No! He couldn't die! There was no way she could stop the tears that rolled down her face. She didn't know he cared about Mitsuki that much! To think she didn't trust him until that moment. 'No. I can't do anything for him. He can't die, though!' she thought.

“Taki, you're cold. What's going on? Why are you disappearing? You'll come back, right?” Mitsuki asked. She couldn't comprehend that he was dying. She didn't know that was the last time she'd see Taki.

Taki shook his head. “I can't come back, Mitsuki. I wish I could, but I can't. J-Just listen to me right now. Run away, Mitsuki. R-Run away before it's too late.”

“Don't die, Taki! You can't die! I told myself that we'd all come back together!” Miku cried out. She couldn't watch him disappear like that. It was too much!

He smiled at the both of them, and then he was gone. There was no sign that he was even there. “T-Taki?” Mitsuki cried.

“He's dead. He won't be coming back, and the five of you will join him!” Kuroi exclaimed.

“That's mean, Kuroi! She's just a little kid! And wasn't Taki your friend? Can't you see that you're hurting the people you care about!?” Kodoku shouted as he, Kikai, and Katei ran next to her.

She couldn't understand those two anymore. Kuroi just killed someone, yet they still try to convince him? Once you kill someone it was too late to change paths. She had to kill Kuroi before he could cause any more harm. She knew she wanted to change him back to normal, but it was too late.
'Don't think like that! If you think like that then you'll never save yourself from the darkness!' she heard. It wasn't the normal voice that tried to get her to join the darkness. 'I didn't choose you to use my power just for you to lose yourself. Taki wanted to safe Kuroi too. The least you can do is honor that wish of his! Not to mention that Mitsuki would get hurt if you killed Kuroi.'

She didn't know who was giving her advice, but then she felt a familiar feeling inside her. Could that voice have belonged to her Mom? The voice did sound familiar, but it was hard to tell if it was her Mom's. It didn't matter if it was her Mom or not, but it was right. She had to save Kuroi for Mitsuki and Taki. Taki wanted to save Kuroi too, even if it meant he couldn't come back.

She turned around to see Mitsuki crying, and then she embraced her. “It's alright, Mitsuki. Kuroi just isn't himself right now. I'll bring the Kuroi you love back. I promise,” she said.

Mitsuki wouldn't look at her; she only nodded.

“Kodoku, Kikai, Katei, lets go! We can do it if we work together!” she exclaimed. “Lunar Power!”

After she transformed into Lunar Miku she pointed her staff at Kuroi. She was going to change him back! “Be prepared, Kuroi!”

“Kuroi, you handle her. I'll handle the others,” she heard.

“Kai!” Katei exclaimed.

He appeared already!? Wasn't he suppose to think they were dead!? “Light Lunar Moon Ray!”

Her staff glowed, and then yellow lights started going after Kuroi and Kai. It looked like it would hit them, but it looked like they vanished then reappeared!

“They're too fast!” she said. She was about to chase after Kuroi, but she felt a sharp pain in her back and fell to the ground.

“Don't fail, Kuroi!” Kai shouted.

“Miku!” Kodoku yelled.

What did he hit her with? A better question was which one hit her? She couldn't get up without her back arguing against her moving. There was no way he used just his fist when he hit her.

When she thought she would finally get up she felt something hard against her back, and then she screamed. A pain worse than she already had was entering her back, and it felt like whatever was against her back was in her back.

“He's using the handle of his sword! That part of his sword steals magic from whoever it enters! Do something, Kodoku!” Kikai exclaimed.

“I can't! My magic might hit Miku!” Kodoku countered.

It felt like something was being sucked out of her. So was that what she was feeling? She had to do something quickly before all of her magic was gone, but she couldn't move with it in her back. 'This isn't good. It's getting harder just to stay awake,' she thought as her eyes were slowly closing.

“Leave her alone,” she barely heard.

Who said that? It didn't sound like Kodoku, Kikai, or Katei. Who else could it have been? The only other person there was- Mitsuki!

“Leave Mi alone!” Mitsuki yelled.

A pink light shot out from Mitsuki's Scythe and collided with Kuroi's sword. As soon as she felt nothing was in her back she forced herself to turn around to face Kuroi.

“Get out of there, Miku!” Katei said.

No. She may have been weak from Kuroi's attack, but she promised that she would change him back to normal! She would uphold to that promise. She wouldn't use the staff though. She knew how to change him back with her own magic from the last time she tried. “Kuroi, return to your normal self already! Return to Mitsuki and comfort her!” she called out. “Lunar Moon Power!”

She felt it as the rest of the magic in her body came out and surrounded the two of them. That time it was acting like chains so they couldn't run away.“Time for you to remember eleven years ago! You can't allow Kai to control you forever! Your sword is gone, so there's no point in you fighting!”

His eyes were showing different expressions every second, but there were too many expressions that she couldn't keep up. Was he finally starting to return to them? She hoped he was; she was exhausted. The magic his sword stole was never returned to her, so she didn't have as much magic to use.

“What am I doing? Where am I?” Kuroi asked.

He was back! He returned to his normal self. She finally managed to return him back to normal. “There's no time to explain, Kuroi. We have to beat Kai!” she exclaimed.

He exchanged looks between her and Kai, and she thought that maybe he wasn't back to normal. “I remember now! After I beat you eleven years ago you disappeared, but you swore you'd get revenge! What are you guys doing? Why can't you hit him?” Kuroi asked.

“He's too fast to hit,” Kodoku said.

“Kikai, Katei. You two make the perfect combination. Chain and Nature, if used correctly could make the perfect trap. Use your combination!” Kuroi commanded.

She forgot that Kikai could use chains! Kai wouldn't be able to navigate through the chains, and if Katei added nature it would just be more difficult.

“Lets do it, Kikai!” Katei exclaimed. He nodded. “Wood Chain Frenzy!” they both shouted together.

First thing that happened was that chains came out from almost everywhere and basically took over the room. Then wood broke through the floor and twirled itself around the chains. No wonder why they wanted Kuroi back. Not only was he strong; he was smart too.

“Why you! I refuse to lose against you, Kuroi!” Kai shouted as a small black orb appeared in his hand.

“What is that thing?” Mitsuki asked as she ran over to Kuroi and gave him a big hug.

“It's a stronger version of a Dark Rift. I altered it myself. Miku may have been able to stop it last time, but this one is stronger. She would never be able to stop it, even if she tried to. I don't care if I die! There are always people out there like me, but there's nobody else out there like you guys!” he explained crazily before he threw it on the ground.

“You're crazy! With that much magic it wouldn't stop after it destroys us!” Kuroi yelled.

“It doesn't matter! I refuse to lose to you!” Kai exclaimed before he disappeared into the Dark Rift.

Unlike before, the wind blowing into the Dark Rift was bringing all the items in the house to it. 'We have to do something before we get pulled in!' she thought. “Kodoku, lets combine our magic!”

“I can't! I can't control my magic! I don't know what will happen if I use my magic!” he shouted.

“You won't know until you try! Believe in yourself and your magic! That's what I told myself when I first used mine, and I can use mine quite well! We try or die, Kodoku! Pick which one!” she exclaimed.

He looked at them for a few seconds, which was a few too many in her opinion. They didn't have time for him to think about it; he had to act!

“Okay! I'll try!” he said. “Fire Power!”

He started to glow red, and then fire shot out of him into the rift. The magic coming from the fire was powerful; she understood why he didn't want to use it.

“Mi, are you sure you're feeling well enough?” Mitsuki asked.

She smiled at Mitsuki, trying as hard as she could to mask how exhausted she was. She wasn't in any condition to stop a Dark Rift, but she was going to try! 'Maybe I can try using the staff along with what remaining magic is in my body,' she thought. “Double Lunar Moon Power!”

As soon as the words left her mouth she instantly felt a strong pain in her chest. She ignored it and pointed the staff at the Dark Rift. Her staff was glowing yellow, along with her body. She felt the magic from her body go into the staff, which was probably causing the pain. Either that or it was dangerous for all her magic to leave her body. The pain was getting stronger by the second, but she wanted to save everyone! She had a feeling something like that would happen. 'Now you should know, Kikai. The reason why I wouldn't tell you that my mind was still in darkness. The only thing that I regret is that I never got the chance to tell Kodoku that I love him,' she thought sadly. “Taki, Yaburu. I wish you two were alive,” she whispered.

The blast finally left her staff and went toward the Dark Rift at a great speed. She couldn't see what happened to it afterward since her vision instantly went black.

“Miku!” Kodoku shouted.
