Chapter 6

“What's wrong?” Kodoku asked.

She got up then glared at them.

“She's angry?” Katei guessed.

“Of course I'm angry!” she shouted as she pointed at Taki. “That mean is a traitor! It's only natural that I would be angry!”

They didn't realize it at all! At least he didn't get any important information that could be used against them.

“What are you talking about, Miku!? He's our friend!” Katei yelled.

“Then explain why I saw him with a dark aura around him!” she exclaimed at them. She was going to convince them! Betrayal was one thing that she could never forgive. Lying and betrayal were the things she refused to forgive.

The group remained quiet. She was about to yell again, but she felt something. She looked up to see that it started to rain. 'Rain?' she thought. 'Oh no!'

Taki knew the water was happy, so she had to assume that his magic was water. “Taki, if you try to harm this place I won't forgive you!” she exclaimed. She was going to charge at Taki, but she ran into something. She looked around to see what she ran into, but all she saw was a bubble. He trapped her inside a bubble!? That was a cheap trick!

“Taki! We know it was wrong of her to accuse you, but you're going too far! We need her, remember!? She's the only hope we have left!” Kodoku shouted.

They still believed Taki? Why didn't they believe her? Was it because they knew each other for years, and they barely knew her? She wrapped her arms around her to try to soothe the pain that was in her heart. They could have at least considered the possibility of Taki being a traitor, but they wouldn't even listen. Why would they ignore the possibility of him being a traitor?

'How many times do I have to say it? They don't care about you! Join the darkness already. Your Father has been waiting for you to join him for eleven years. Why keep him waiting?'

That voice again. But at least that time it didn't come at such a bad time.

“So you finally considered it, Miku.” Her Dad? Why was he there?

“Master Kai! I followed your orders as you wished! Did the plan work?” Taki asked.

“Plan!? You're not working for him, are you Taki!?” Katei shouted. Taki only smirked. “Why are you working for him? Don't you realize that he wants to destroy the world!?

“I don't want to destroy it. I want to fill it with darkness. A world where only darkness exists. Doesn't that sound wonderful? To do that though, I need Miku's magic. It's hard to change someone who doesn't have darkness in them. It's hard to change them even when they do have darkness in them too. So what do you do to change that? You trick them into the darkness,” Kai explained. “Miku, embrace that darkness that's in your heart. You've been fighting it for so long, now it's time for you to join it.”

She wasn't going to give in to the darkness, but it was getting harder to fight it when the bubble was replaced by a cloud of darkness.

“Kodoku, go to Miku! I'll handle Taki! She can't change on us otherwise it's over!” Katei shouted.

'Kodoku, Katei. I can't fight it!' she thought. She knew they cared about her, but part of her was believing the darkness. Part of her believed they didn't care about her.

“Don't give up, Miku! You can't change! Kai is lying, and you know he is! We care about you! Why else would be risking our lives for you? We wouldn't go this far if we didn't care!” Kodoku called out.

Did they really care, or were they just saying that? No, they didn't care. She grabbed her head, and stopped the scream that wanted to come out. 'No, they care! This darkness can't change me!' she told herself.

“Don't listen to him. They only care about saving themselves. We want to fill the world with darkness because of people like them,” Kai said.

That was right. They wanted to fill the world with darkness so the selfish people would pay for what they did. A world of darkness would stop all the suffering in the world. 'No it won't! A world with darkness has no love! We'd suffer without our emotions! Why is it so hard to fight against the darkness?' she asked herself.

Her focus returned to her when a loud scream pierced through her ears. She forced herself to look around the dark cloud, and then she saw a hand that was moving around the cloud. It looked like it was searching for something, or someone.

“Where are you, Miku? You're not alone! You can talk to us about your feelings! We're sorry if we hurt you. Taki was family to us, so it was only natural to believe him. You're part of our family too. Kikai didn't get injured for nothing! He believes in you too!” Kodoku shouted.

“If you cared about her then why did you hurt her?” Kai asked.

“Sometimes we hurt someone without realizing it, but we end up regretting it! Hurting someone important to you is unbearable!” Kodoku countered.

“Miku, do you really want to believe someone who is destroying this place? You love this place! Don't allow him to destroy it!”

The lake! The lake couldn't be destroyed, otherwise the darkness around the Moon would get stronger. 'I'm starting to get some control over myself again, but it's still hard. I don't think I can keep fighting it for much longer.' Her Dad must have really been evil if he was destroying the lake. He loved the lake eleven years ago. Why did that change?

She reached out for Kodoku's hand, but immediately pulled it back. A sharp pain spread through her arm from just moving it. 'The dark cloud is preventing me from moving! Kodoku!' she thought.

“I-I-I love you, Miku! That's why I'm not giving up! I'll never leave the person I love when they're in trouble!” Kodoku confessed.

She couldn't hear anything except for the beating of her heart. It felt like she had nine cups of coffee. He felt the same way about her as she did about him. 'I love you too, Kodoku,' she thought herself.

She reached out for his hand again, but ignored the pain even though it got stronger. Nothing would stop her from going to the man she loved. She felt his warm hand when she managed to reach it, and the dark cloud turned into light.

The light wasn't around for long though. Her ring started to glow, and then it absorbed the light. “Thank you, Kodoku. You saved me from the darkness. I guess everything just piled up until I couldn't handle it anymore, she whispered softly.

“You're too late. This place cannot be saved now,” Kai said arrogantly.

She looked around the area, and she couldn't believe what she saw. Darkness was in the air, the lake was empty, and the flowers were dead. How could he destroy such a beautiful place in such a short amount of time? She was suppose to protect it, but she wasn't able to do anything! He was going to pay for destroying a beautiful place! “How dare you. How dare you destroy this place! I'll never forgive you for this, Kai, Taki!” she shouted in rage.

“Now that you mention it, we're not done here yet. Now that this link is destroyed there's no need to change you,” Kai said. “Dark Rift!”
In the middle of the area a dark line appeared, and the wind was blowing toward it. It looked like a black hole, except that it was a line.

“What are you doing, Master Kai!? I'm still here!” Taki exclaimed with fear in his voice.

“You think I actually cared about you? I was only using you to change Miku, but that's no longer necessary. After you four die the world will be taken over by darkness!” Kai said before he disappeared.

That wasn't fair. Taki was his ally, but he didn't about him at all. Teamwork was what made them stronger; betrayal weakened them. Even if he decided to help him it would take a while before she could trust him again. “Taki, he betrayed you, and you betrayed us. Help us stop him, but first tell us what that thing is!” she called out.

Katei and Taki were on the other side of the line; she hoped they could hear her.

“Why should I help you!? We were enemies a few minutes ago,” Taki said.

“You should help us because you'll end up dying if you don't! Kodoku shouted.

She was being pulled closer to the line, and she was afraid to move her feet. If she moved her feet she might just end up closer to the line.

“Fine,” Taki said, “That's a Dark Rift. It's a tear in a dimension, except it doesn't lead to another dimension. It destroys anything that goes in it. It takes a huge amount of magic to stop it, but we're too weak to stop it even if we combined our powers.”

She couldn't give up though. She had to try until the end. If she gave up then why did she bother making it that far? She closed her eyes and focused on the magic in her body.

“Don't, Miku! You don't have enough magic to stop a Dark Rift! You'll die trying!” Katei shouted.

She wouldn't die. She believed in herself. No, she believed in her magic! If she died there then no one would have been able to save Kuroi. She had to save him for Mitsuki! She felt the magic surround the air, and then it suddenly got stronger. She opened her eyes to see a bright light around her.
The light didn't come from her magic, but from somewhere else. She looked down at her ring to see that it was glowing. The ring was acting on its own? It was lending its power to her own. The two magics felt surprisingly comfortable around her. It still felt like the warm, kind magic she felt the first time she used it. “Double Lunar Moon Light!” she shouted.

The light engulfed the whole entire area, and she felt the earth shaking under her feet. She never expected the magic to be that strong! It felt like an earthquake was happening.

“What's happening!? I can't see anything!” Kodoku exclaimed.

The light slowly faded away until the ruin of the lake was able to be seen again. The Dark Rift was gone, along with the darkness.

“She did it. The Dark Rift is gone,” Taki said surprisingly.

She did it. She saved everyone from the Dark Rift. She was extremely exhausted, but she didn't care. She was happy that everyone was safe.

“What magical power. I never knew you had that much magic,” Katei said in awe.

“It wasn't my magic power alone. The ring acted on its own, and used its own magic,” she said as she looked at the ring. Why did it act on its own like that? It was still in ring form, and she thought it had to be in staff form to use magic. Maybe it was possible for her to use the magic without it being in staff form.

“I didn't know that was possible. I read that it had to be in staff form to use it's magic,” Kodoku said.

She looked around the area again then shook her head. She couldn't save the lake, but it gave her another reason to fight. She was going to fight for the lake. It was too beautiful to be destroyed. She was going to get revenge for the lake! 'I'm going to rebuild this place after the battle,' she told herself. She faced the others, and they all had the same expression on their face. Her expression was probably the same too. She had to be serious until the battle was over. No, it was more than a battle. It was a war since the fate of the world depended on them.

“There's only one enemy left now,” Taki said.

“Yeah. We have to beat Kai so we can save the world!” Katei exclaimed.

“We have to save Kuroi too! He's been suffering for eleven years! We have to end his suffering!” Kodoku added.

She smiled at them. They were all on the same page. It was time to end the war, and bring peace to the world! She was going to keep an eye on Taki though. She wouldn't trust him until Kai was defeated, and until the world was peaceful. She wasn't going to forgive him as easily as everyone else had, but she won't be mean to him. “Lets go!” she exclaimed.
