Chapter 5
They gathered around her to look at the Moon. “I don't see anything,” all three of them said together.
“Huh? But I see the aura! I'm not imagining it!” she said loudly. Why was she the only one who could see it?
“The weakness of the magic. You might have found it in your dream without knowing,” Taki said.
“Yeah. The voice said you were the only hope left, right? Maybe since you know that you can see the aura,” Katei explained.
But that didn't explain why she was the only one to see it. They knew she was the only hope left, but they couldn't see it. “We have to stop my Dad. If he corrupts the Moon then we fail,” she said confidently.
“Lets wait for Kikai to recover. He can help us fight,” Kodoku said.
“We know how you feel Kodoku, but we can't stay here much longer. He tried to change Miku. He'll surely try to change her again. We have to leave right now before they try to attack again!” Taki exclaimed.
“Where would we go? The enemy knows all of us! Kuroi knows us, and obviously her Father knows her! Nothing will change if we leave,” Katei yelled.
They couldn't leave because Katei was right. They couldn't randomly leave without thinking about it. But at the same time they couldn't stay there either.
“Why don't we go to the lake? It might be obvious, but we might have an advantage with the forest around us. It's probably the best place we can go to,” she recommended.
Her dream took place at the lake. There had to be a reason why she was at the lake. She probably didn't realize it the fire time she was there because she got attacked by Kuroi and Kikai. There might have been something she didn't notice before.
“That's not a bad idea. Katei's magic is nature so being surrounded by a forest wouldn't be a problem,” Kodoku said cheerfully.
“It's decided then. We'll go to the lake,” Katei declared.
She clapped in excitement, and then realized that they were all looking at her. Oh yeah, she was the only one who knew how to get there, and knew the quickest way there. Kodoku probably followed the magic power when he saved her. She ran out of the door and instantly went to the hill in front of Kodoku's house.
“Slow down, Miku!” Taki called.
“I can't! I never saw the lake at night! I can't imagine the view! It's so beautiful during the day!” she said in excitement. She was excited, but she wouldn't tell them her true reason for wanting to go. She had to find out what was at the lake before she told them. Her gut was telling her that it was more than her family secret, and her feeling hasn't been wrong yet.
“Remember we're going there to hide, Miku. It's the one place we can hide for a while because of the trees,” Kodoku said while laughing.
They were probably the only two people in the world who would laugh when they were suppose to be serious. No one said that they couldn't have fun while being serious.
The others reached the hill, but it would be difficult to walk up. The hill was muddy! It must have rained, otherwise it would have been dry.
“Looks like the weather isn't in our favor tonight. It'll take time to walk to the top,” Taki said in a weird tone. What was that in his voice? Sarcasm? No, it didn't sound like it.
It would take forever to walk up the hill, where they would slide down with every step they would take. Maybe the entrance near the school would be shorter. “Lets see if the path near the school is better. This hill would take forever, and we have to get away from here,” she explained quickly.
“That's a thirty minute walk,” Kodoku said.
“Compared to how long it would take for us to climb this hill! It's worth a shot!” she exclaimed.
“Hurry up! If you three don't start walking I'll leave you behind!” Katei called from the top of the hill.
How did he manage to get up there so quickly!? The hill was muddy- Wait, it was dry.
“I guess his nature magic works on mud too,” Taki said with a hint of anger in his voice. What happened to him? Taki wasn't like this before she fell asleep.
They started walking up the hill, and they reached Katei in no time. “You should have told us that you were able to turn the mud into dirt,” she complained.
“I know. It was fun watching your conversation though!” he laughed.
She smiled at him then started to lead the way. She thought it was going to be hard to see, but the Moon was shedding light all over the place.
“Wow. Everything here feels so different. Everything around here is happy,” Katei said quietly.
“What are you talking about, Katei?” Kodoku asked.
“The trees, flowers, and the ground. I can feel them with my magic. This is the first time that a piece of nature is happy. I guess not many people come here,” he explained in a soothing tone.
Maybe that was why she felt happy every time she went there. Her ring probably felt it, and then she felt it. She was happy, even though her Dad was evil.
“Wow. I thought hunters would come here to hunt,” Kodoku said.
“Look! There's the tree!” she exclaimed as she pointed at the tree with the white paint. She ran over to the tree then pointed at the path that led to the lake. “We should be there soon! It's not that far from here!” They ran over to the tree, and then continued to walk.
When they arrived at the lake she instantly realized how shocked the others were; except for Kodoku.
“This is the lake? It's so beautiful. The flowers around it are very happy!” Katei exclaimed happily.
It never looked like there was a battle there. The flowers were still in one peace, and there was no blood. 'Is this place naturally peaceful? I thought it would be damaged from Kuroi and Kikai,' she asked herself.
“Even the water is happy. It's so pure compared to other water,” Taki said.
She carefully walked toward the lake, making sure she didn't step on any flowers. When she reached the lake it looked more like a mirror. There was nothing that moved her reflection. A lake were the water wouldn't move. She thought that such a thing was impossible, and then she felt it. The magic around the lake was flowing into her body. It felt so warm inside of her body, like a small flame was in her.
“Miku. You finally approached the lake. I've been waiting for eleven years. Waiting for you,” she heard.
Someone was waiting for her? That sounded extremely creepy, but it sounded familiar. 'That voice! The same one from my dream! The one that saved me from my Dad,' she thought.
“That's right, Miku. I would have helped you earlier, but it takes a lot of magic to contact you. That's why I was waiting at this lake. It's the link where I can contact you without using magic,” it said. “Oh, and talk with your mind. We don't want anyone to hear this.”
'Who are you? How do you know my name?' she asked.
“I'm the Moon, Miku. This lake is a link, so to take over the Moon they have to destroy this place. However, there is a second link that has to be destroyed, or changed, to take over the Moon. You're that link, Miku. That's why your Father tried to change you. Sure to contact you I need to use magic, but I can give you my magic if you're in trouble,” she explained.
'I'm a link? So if I change the moon could be in serious danger, and the lake because I'm the only one who could protect it!' she exclaimed in shock.
“Yeah. I'm going to show you an image in the lake. It's the last thing I can do for you. Good luck,” she said as the magic left Miku's body.
She looked at the imagine on the lake, and then she got furious. That traitor!
