[Discussion] Luffy's haki

Was luffy vs Bellamy in the skyisland arc our first time witnessing luffy use observation haki or was he just not attacking. Bellamy was moving at what seemed to be a high speed and luffy wasn't able to dodge the first attacks and they where a much slower speed its not like its oda's first time foreshadowing an ability before reveling it which makes sense since enel was using it against luffy but what are your thoughts

he just wasn't moving, it definitely would've been hinted if he had used haki like when he first used it before sabaody archipelago

Well I assumed he used it unknowingly like with kings haki

01. Luffy and Bellamy's first fight was in Jaya, Jaya arc. Not Skypiea arc.
02. Luffy was pretty much an ordinary rubber fighter. No gears. No haki.

The Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation) is known in Skypiea by the name, Mantra. Oda and his ways of foreshadowing, we never noticed from the first chapters, when Shanks lost his left arm to save Luffy, and giving the sea-king (or sea beast) that glare. Anything anybody does, Luffy would do too. I wonder what's Oda's take on Edward going gear second that happened in the anime but not in the manga.

01. I watch on crunchy roll and it says skypia so I'm not positive but if I'm wrong thanks for the correction

02 agreed but he used conquers haki and didn't even notice so who's to say this isn't another example

As far as shanks I always thought that was our first look at conquers haki how powerful it is and shanks' potential to be a yanko(of course after the yankos where introduced
