What's up guys
I am going to discuss as the title says Luffys future growth and on Black Beard becoming king of the pirates first not Luffy. Of course share your opinions on what you think of this theory I appreciated 
When it comes to Luffy in my opinion there is one thing Luffy is lacking and that's maturity. Luffy has always had that child like nature since the start of the series like hes eats a lot, goof around, and Luffy is naive. Luffy is spontaneous person that's who Luffy is. Luffy love the thrill of adventure and always wants to explore a new island no matter how dangerous, this is one of Luffys best qualities about him.

Luffy is naive when comes to serious situations or anything romance related. Which is why Luffy needs mature nature friends like Zoro and Robin who are the most level headed in the straw hat pirates. Luffy child like nature really reminds a lot of kid gokus from dragon ball. In the time skip Luffy has not change mature wise, but of course Luffy became a lot stronger physically
. In my honestest opinion I do think Luffy needs to mature some or to put like this GROW UP a lot XD.This is where my theory/ main point comes in now. I think we will not see Luffy actually mature until Shanks dies.
Why I think this?
1.Because Shanks is the main reason why Luffy became a pirate
2.To return Shanks hat
3.Luffy wants to fight Shanks

This is where Black Beard comes in to play. I do believe Shanks will die later on the story by Black Beard. It was already hinted during fishmen island Teach was the one in fact gave Shanks that scar with a claw type weapon.
Also hinted during Shanks and White Beard conversation:

Shanks and Black Beard possibly will cross paths again in new world and fight again, like I said before Shanks will get killed by Teach. Once Luffy learns this news Luffy character will gain some actual maturity. This will give Luffy another reason to fight Teach. I'm not saying Luffy should become mature completely like turning into a different person, xD no. I think when Luffu does grow he going to be like adult Goku in DBZ.
Black Beard started off has a random pirate we had no clue about and now Black Beard is a big threat in the One Piece world like:
*Teach already planned to join White Beard crew just to get the Yami Yami no mi fruit and succeed of course
*Teach and his crew on Banaro island cause a uproar and defeated Ace
*Teach made the prisoners in impel down duke it out to join his crew
*Teach manage to take on White Beard
*Teach is first person to be able use two devil fruit
*Teach conquered White Beard territories and he hunting for more devil fruit
Black Beard is building up to be one of the final antagonist in the story. I think Black Beard will find One Piece before Luffy and become king of the pirates. Then a war is going to break lose in the One Piece world. Remember what white beard said "a grand battle that engulfs the entire world" and "the world will be shaken to its core" when One Piece is found. If Black Beard finds one piece first this will give another reason not only to get stronger take on Black Beard, but to become pirate king.:scorps:
