[Discussion] Luffy VS Shanks

Protagonist of Fairy Tail alongside Lucy (the blonde girl from the cover, Natsu's the pink-haired boy... in my opinion, Naruto and Sakura's long-lost child). I love him, but I don't like how he gets his random power-ups or how the mangaka presents them. Like in Natsu vs Hades.

Shanks is no Devil Fruit user. And Usopp was the only one who could fight that girl, cause he was her natural enemy

Shanks stopped Akainu's lava punch effortlessly. Doesn't that give you a clue as regards how strong he is? Yes, we don't know his exact powers, but neither do we know the exact powers of Doflamingo, Law or Kidd. Yet everyone assumes they're deadly as hell. I think it's pretty clear why we consider Shanks strong, is it?
And what does Perona vs Usopp have to do in any of this? It's like saying Nami is stronger than Sanji because she beated Kalifa and he couldn't. There are some fights that are circunstancial and don't depend on strenght, but also on what's going on or simple luck (imagine the outcome of Nami vs Kalifa if Monster Chopper hadn't arrive). Unluckily, this isn't one of those fights, so Luffy still gets his ass kicked by his childhood hero. Sorry.

Luffy would definitely put up a better fight than before the 2 years time-skip but I don't think he is close to Shanks yet. He still has to get stronger and besides shanks fights with a sword and because of that, his rubber body doesn't help and there is also the matter with Haki too. Shanks is out of luffy's league rite now.

you are right about that Shanks is much much stronger than Luffy. thats why Luffy can't win. But it is not about who is going to win. I'm saying that if Shanks has some epic powers like invisibility or something like that, Luffy even can't touch him. in that case, someone (usopp may be) who has mental power like negativity, may try to touch Shanks. after that we can say something about who is going to win. I think we can't say anything about Shanks untill we see him at battlefield. Like you said, we saw Shanks power when he stopped Akainu's lawa punch. in that moment we saw these he is strong (faster than anyone and strong haki, also cool), nothing more.

yea lol at first i thought this was a joke question but your serioulsy asking this have you not seen one piece at all this isnt naruto luffy is not over powered like naruto or ichigo were only at the half way point of one piece of course he cant beat shanks yet

Bolded: Why? Sanji kicked the crap out of an invisible man, and that was pre-timeskip. And there's only one invisibility fruit, Absalom has it. Even if this was an example, it still doesn't change anything. He can't touch him, shitty powers in the way or not. Luffy can't defeat Shanks now, it's a fact. How does Usopp being negative have anything to do with him "touching" Shanks? If Luffy can't touch him, Usopp is out of the question.

All I said that some possible cases may appear (in the future) between Luffy and Shanks, not facts ( in the past)
And that stupid question wont take us anywhere, becouse its already clear that Shanks easely can take down luffy. for sure, but he won't such thing, never. this is why that quetion is so stupid. Also we are not talking about some arabesque charecters (like naruto).
