[Discussion] Luffy Doesn't Need Ace's Devil Fruit!!!

Why would he need the Mera Mer no Mi if he can already produce his own fire?

By combining Gear Second with Haki, Luffy was able to set his arm on fire.

Also during the Punk Hazard Arc, we see Vergo covering his entire body in Armament Haki.

It's pretty obvious that Luffy's Haki will reach Vergo's level in the near future and once he adds that full body Haki to his Gear Second, he'll automatically gain his own aura of fire like Ace's.

Not only that, Luffy would be even stronger than Ace since he's using Haki to power his fire, and we all know how Haki affects Logias.

I sure hope this clears up speculations about Luffy getting Ace's fruit. Since he can just make his own fire through Haki.

Luffy getting Ace's fruit abilities is just stupid to me. He basically becomes a good guy version of Blackbeard, and it sorta kills any real efforts by him to really get stronger, because he'll just fall back on Logia defense, etc.

I don't think he'll eat it, but I don't think your explanation on Red Hawk is right either. I don't think he needs Haki to be active to activate Red Hawk, but to stop himself from being harmed by the fire.

Actually, it won't. As Luffy already proved, it takes a lot of training and effort to use your Fruit at its best.

Yes thats true but it would be much easier for him to get stronger since just by eating the fruit he would get stronger

Agree with OP. Luffy will probably get the fruit, but he won't eat it. How can he even benefit from the fire while keeping the gomu gomu relevant?? How can he use gomu with mera in a way that mera can't be used by itself?
Makes much more sense for Luffy to set his body on fire like he did with his arm. If he gets mera, gomu will become useless because they don't work together like for example BB's gura and yami do

It's stupid people saying he's going to become OP due to a fruit...he needs to learn how to use it first also it might contradict with his rubber powers making it harder to battle to many questions are asked in this scenario if Luffy gaining Ace's power is actually a bad thing since everyone seems to be looking at it from a bad point of view.

Luffy will need the power of Ace's devil fruit for sure and as for vergo's Haki even if it was strong he was sliced up by Law easily

so Luffy's Haki should be stronger than that of Vergo in order to be on par with the Yonko's

I Disagree almost completely to what you said firstly he doesn't need Ace's fruit but he wants to keep it for the cause of that its only the last memento of his brother.second,remember that when Luffy uses gear second it shortens Luffy's life so thats why when the after 2 years he only use gear 2nd when he uses a technique and by the thoughts of using red hawk if he could use it?? why doesn't he uses it frequently like always??? its because he knows that there are also side effects of using it in the future he only uses red hawk as his finishing blow to his enemies,third i know Luffy will turn like Vergo using a full Armament haki and with that he can now stop frequently using gear 2nd and that would be awesome but i think Luffy will surpass Vergo's Armament haki because when Vergo fought with Law he was easily cut so i think Luffy will make it better,and for the last in the new chapter Luffy's disguise was now known so Doflamingo's plan will now work to ambush them so thats all thank you

If he eats the Mera Mera no Mi he will loose his "indiviuality".
He does not need it. And I hope he wont get it. I like him as a rubber man and that is one of the things which makes Luffy Luffy.
He should gain strenght with his own will and not the Devil Fruit anymore. He achieved a state where Devil Fruits are not that useful because Haki is the thing now.
