[Discussion] luffy character progression?

Regarding the title do u guys believe Luffys character will change. Will he mature and become serious natured like Shanks? I do believe he will mature but to an extent, keeping his easy going attitude intact. This is due to the obvious parallel between him and Rodgers. I believe stated in the manga it talks about how Rodgers never shyed from a fight even taking on a whole fleet of marines. I feel thats how luffy is right now. But even the PK seemed like a somewhat aerious charcter, despite the wry grin he is always portrayed with.

But in regards to manga, a character usually undergoes change, and luffy hasn't changed much. He has stayed goofy and light hearted(which isnt a bad thing). Even after Aces' death he still maintains his easygoing attitude which kind of annoys me because, there was so much emphasis on how he wants to protect his nakama, yet he still acts goofy and gets them into trouble.

This leads me to believe that something even more traumatic will happen to Luffy to make him change. Possibly a death of one of his crew members. After he sees a crew member die he will then realize that he will have to change (although not by much). This of course will me towards the end of the series, but i feel this will be an important factor before he becomes PK.

Dont get me wrong I feel Luffy is one of the better written main characters in Manga. I just feel change is inevitable, do u believe Luffy will change?

One Piece in General is EXACTLY the same as when it was created...

Characters got older, stronger, and met new people...

but its still the same behavior, same jokes, and same goal...

i'm kinda jealous, I wish I could write a manga series like that and make loads of money...

well dude , he already changed a little , like... 5 / 10 % ... so... who knows... even if he changes , he will stay as he is , all goofy and kind hearted , but more fearsome when it comes to protect his nakamas... that's the change that i get . And as for the death of his "Nakama" i actually , don't think that any of his nakamas going to die , because there's no need for that , i think that Shanks or a guy of the crew of shanks or even jinbei will die , or hatchan. or even a good old friend or a new friend ... because well... that's how i think that oda rights his stuff .
