A peculiar star unlike any other I’ve seen.
Sometimes as bright as the sun, or as dim as a dwindling flame.
You shine on your own terms, letting your light gleam.
Shredding across the sky as a marvelous beam.
Of all the stars in the sky for me to choose from,
You were the luckiest of them all.
As our hearts beat together like the rhythm of a drum,
We kindled a destined flame, till the skies grew numb.
You desired to be held and protected so in darkness you may shine.
So, I held you close and cupped you in my hands.
Not realizing you can shine just fine,
My protective grasp only made your light fade in due time.
As my heart filled with regret, I soon lost my precious star.
I never should’ve held you so tight, for my ignorance nearly cost your life.
Now your light shines brightly as I gaze upon you from afar.
For one day, I hope to hold you again rightfully, my Lucky Star.
