When darkness fades I turn toward the light,
And walk to see the world
Of wondrous tales, its depths and boundless height.
That betwixt the seas have curled.
Alas! the bottom deep I cannot wade,
Nor float upon the wave;
But ride in sailing boats which men have made,
As did Columbus journey braved.
Nor can I hope to leap and reach afar,
And wing myself on high,
To there appear like a twinkling star,
Amidst the burning sky.
With faith in He, toward the light I go,
Although my Alps are high;
So fear not I to climb to live and grow,
To reach the heavens on high.
And walk to see the world
Of wondrous tales, its depths and boundless height.
That betwixt the seas have curled.
Alas! the bottom deep I cannot wade,
Nor float upon the wave;
But ride in sailing boats which men have made,
As did Columbus journey braved.
Nor can I hope to leap and reach afar,
And wing myself on high,
To there appear like a twinkling star,
Amidst the burning sky.
With faith in He, toward the light I go,
Although my Alps are high;
So fear not I to climb to live and grow,
To reach the heavens on high.
