had been sitting at his manor in the Batcave underground researching various items. He had began working on his newest incarnation of armor, one that would hopefully grant him enhanced Speed and cover his Energy weakness. He had just began reading and looking into the use of Tachyon technology when his trusted butler Alfred spoke to him over an intercom system.

"Master Wayne, I was listening to the Police Broadcasts as you requested and it seems there has been a double homicide at a mansion in the city. It appears that the call was dropped mid call and that the service has been disconnected as well, according to the police speaking on the intercom."

"Alfred, send the cordinates to my gauntlet. I'm on my way there now," Bruce spoke, quickly grabbing his and donning it as he fled the cave.

Suited up, Batman travels through the dark streets of NBVille, using his to draw his Grappling Gun and swing across the tops of the Buildings, moving deep towards the suburbanized community where most of the large mansions stood towering over the inner city from their gated community.

"Alfred, where did the call come from?"

"There ahead, sir. The large manor at the end of the road."

Swinging forward, Batman noticed the large and dark building in front of him.

"It appears that the cops haven't arrived yet. I need to find how many people are located here and where. If there's a murderer here, then I must act fast. If I use their phone signals, I can create a map of the building."

Landing atop the building, Batman uses his Batsuit to activate his sonar vision, in which special lenses slide down in his cowl. Using the cellular signals from phones to create an effect similar to Echolocation, Batman uses his enhanced sight to take note of the guests.

"Alfred, there appears to be 10 people in one room, all seated in circles back to back with two bodies a few feet away. On the floor above them, there appears to be several men walking and patrolling the hall where another man stands in front of a wall, possibly breaking into a room. Alfred, who's house is this?"

"It appears the lease is made to a Term I. Nator, sir."

"Term?...weird name," Batman remarked as he leaped from the roof, gliding towards the ground.

"Send me the blueprints for the house, Alfr-"

"Already sending sir"

Almost on cue, Batman's gauntlet vibrates briefly as he lands. Lifting the latch on the side to reveal a computer, Batman studies the floorplans and notes the entrance to the backdoor and begins moving swiftly towards the door. Upon reaching it, Batman noted it to be locked with a large electronic lock. Instead of breaking through it, Batman draws his Cryptographic Sequencer from his utility belt and uses it to hack through the door and sneak inside.

Having already noted the floor plan, he knows which way to go and coupled with the account of people present, he knew where to avoid as well.

It wasn't hard to locate the breaker box and use his EMP to turn the lights out and just as expected, he could hear panicked voices speaking. Someone mentioned it might be the cops, but that notion was dismissed when someone yelled out they didn't see any cop cars outside the building. Batman heard someone else yell out to go check the breakers. Lucky for Batman, his Batsuit allowed him to blend in with the darkness. Hugging the walls and crouching, he waited on the man to walk in and as he looked at the breakers, Batman made his move, firing the remote claw at him to snatch him and pull him into the wall, knocking him out but not before a loud yell was let out.

Guns could be heard being cocked. Voices rising. He heard threats of killing the other guests there, and knew he had to act quickly. He was under the room where the guests were and he could see guards coming his way downstairs. His plan was already set in motion though: As the men ran down the stairs, he drew his grappling gun and shot it towards the ceiling as two men entered the room, still unable to locate him.

"Shit, there's Bobby!"

"What the hell happened to him?!"

"Idk, looks like someone jumped him...you don't think it was Ch-"

"Don't say that! You know he appears when his name is mentioned! Look around, whoever did it is still here..."

As the two men spoke in hushed tones frantically, Batman used his line launcher to shoot a line across the ceiling to move across undetected; he had to make sure those hostages got out safe. He also threw a batarang towards the corner for misdirection and to mask his sound. The fools fell for it, turning to shoot up an empty room as Bruce dipped out, heading upstairs.

Reaching the next floor, Batman takes note of the 5 guards standing around the members with machine guns with his sonar vision still active. Looking up, he notes the 4 guards still above, trying to break into the room still. Noting the men to have flashlights attached to the guns, Batman knows his current Batsuit isn't equipped to deal with heavy gunfire. Knowing what must be done, as soon as the light flashes over him, he activates his Disruptor, effectively disabling the guns the men held as one yells out, "It's the Bat!"

With the guns now disabled, Batman smirks to himself; the darkness was an ally to him. Throwing a Batarang at one of the men, Batman hits him in the head, knocking him out as he flips around towards the right of the group, shooting the Grappling gun at one of the men to pull them towards him as he spun and delivered a spinning back kick to his face, knocking him out as well. Hearing the sounds must have alerted the other bandits because two rushed at him, only to run into a freeze grenade, freezing the men in their places. The last bandit rushed away quickly, fleeing up the stairs.

Activating his hearing device, Batman eavesdrops on the conversation as he freed the guests and shone a flashlight towards the door to help them escape.

"Gu-Guys! The Batman's here!"

"What?!"

"Shit, we should go, man!"

"No, the Boss will kill us if we don't get this safe open and get these gems out!"

"Shit, the Bat will kill us if we stay!"

So it was a burglary, Batman thought. The men were sent here to steal something from that safe, but what? The hostages now gone, Batman decided the time for games and safety was over; Placing large amounts of explosive gel onto 3 batarangs, he placed three more atop them and launched them at the ceiling and detonated them, causing an explosion to take place as he moved out of the way. The roof caved in and several men fell to the floor in a thundering crash. They had got knocked out it seems, only one was still conscious and he was holding on to the edge of the floor desperately trying to avoid falling. Using his Grappling Gun to grab part of the broken floor, Batman pulled himself up towards him and grabbed him by his chest, yelling at him.

"WHO SENT YOU?!"

Terrified, the man began squirming trying to get out of his grip, stammering over his words.

"I-I-I don't know! He sent a letter and said to get it out of the safe!"

"GET WHAT?!"

Crying, the man struggled harder.

"Something called Kryptonite! It's some shit from an asteroid that crashed at the outskirts of town! Idk what it's for, please let me go, I have kids!"

"These people have kids! You killed two men here!"

"I'm sorry!!"

"Sorry doesn't cut it."

Letting the man go, he fell towards the rubble, screaming and yelling loudly before the Grappling Gun caught his leg inches from the ground, Batman attaching it to the roof and leaving the man hanging. Turning towards the wall, he sees an open safe with a faint green light glowing from it. Approaching it, he finds a box of green rocks present. Drawing a piece of it, he opens his gauntlet and scans it as he talks to Alfred.

"Alfred, collect an analysis of the rocks. I need to see what the point of stealing them was."

"Will do, Master Wayne. Also, the police have arrived and I do think it will do you good to not be there when they get there."

Turning towards the hole, Batman sees several people entering flashing lights and quickly leaps through the nearest window after grabbing one of the stones, spreading his cape to allow him to glide away from the building and towards the city, quickly pulling out his Grappling Gun to grab the roof of a building and swing away towards the Batcave.

End of Chapter 1.
