Things were a lot different now. Suddenly things like rent, and the Super Bowl were meaningless, but things like threats of extinction and endless chaos at the hands of the powerful were. I am different now as well. Normally, these things would do more than just intrigue me. At one point in my life I would step in and offer a hand to stop it, but since my accident, I now see that is not my place. Life in itself is a highly overrated thing, so if this species decides to end itself, then who was I to stop them? Dr. Manhattan thought this to himself as he mindlessly strolled the streets, before the sounds of whimpering snapped him out of his trance. Whether it be the effect of Laura, his long time girlfriend, or his previous life; the sounds of children's distraught is something that is always unpleasant to the glowing blue man. Bending down to her level, Jon addresses her.
What is the matter? You appear to not have injury, so what could be the cause of your pain?
...Fl-fluffy. *whimper* He's gone.. I can't find him nowhere.. Please help me missur.
What kind of animal is this Fluffy? Color and approximate size?
He's ma bunny, but he's just a baby. He's white and brown and has long ears and ticket whiskers and these funny bumps on his head but I promise I didn't put them ther-

Maybe you can help those other guys! They seemed real excited to meet Fluffy so they ran off a little while ago!
Hm? Other men you say? Yes, sure I'll help them. Jon says placing the child's mind at ease.
Without waiting to hear the faint thank you from the child, Jon would continue on his path while trying to put himself in the correct mind frame to find the animal. Rabbits are herbivores by nature that tend to hide in burrows or other cover. Needless to say it would also need a water source nearby and a lack of predators would be preferable. Taking all of this into account, Jon has an idea, and quickly makes his way to the nearest park. While walking, Jon can't help but think about what the child said. Why would other men be looking for this animal? It probably has a high monetary value, something of little importance to Jon, but all too important to the weak. Either way, both the lives of the girl and the rabbit would be benefited by being with each other, while these men have unknown intentions. Jon knows what he must do.
After searching the area for numerous minutes, Jon begins to hear a rustle in a nearby bush. Walking near it, a small white patch of fuzz bursts out of the bush at great speeds. Jon watches as it hops away, following but not pursuing. After running about half a kilometer, the animal stops, and as he does so, Jon slips into the nearby bushes. Moving silently as to not be heard, he lurched from the animals back side and wraps it up in his arms. He squirms and claws and tries to headbutt Jon, but it has little effect. Calming the animal by shielding it's eyes, he begins to walk back to the girl, keeping an eye out for others looking for the animal.
As he walks, he notices that his hands keep coming across the hard bumps protruding from the rabbits head. As he examines the animal once more, he notices that it isn't an ordinary rabbit, its a Jackolobe, or horned rabbit. A very rare creature not normally seen.. anywhere. So how did it come into the hands of this little girl? Just more things to ponder as he walked.
Approaching the girl, Jon notices that her face seems to light up at first sight of the animal. She begins to race toward him while yelling the name of her pet. Jon holds out one arm to stop her before she reaches him.
Before I return Fluffy, where did you get him? You see, my girlfriend would love one and I don't know where to find another.
Oh, that's easy. There's his guy that works with my Daddy, and he has lots and lots of these. I think they're sad though, because all they do is sit in cages in that lab all day. I cried and cried and cried about it until Daddy brought me Fluffy. Can I have him back now?
Of course, thank you. Jon says handing over the animal. The information the girl gave her was much more interesting than this individual specimen anyway. Making a mental note to look into this further at a later time, Dr. Manhattan continues his stroll through the city, at this point totally ignoring the girl that appeared to the suffocating the poor creature in her grasps.
