Stood in firelight, sweltering. Bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent. Felt cleansed. Felt dark planet turn under my feet and knew what cats know that makes them scream like babies in night.

Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and God was not there. The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever and we are alone. Live our lives, lacking anything better to do. Devise reason later. Born from oblivion; bear children, hell-bound as ourselves, go into oblivion. There is nothing else.

Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. Streets stank of fire. The void breathed hard on my heart, turning its illusions to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world.

He was reborn, awoken once again. In a pitch dark room he stood, inspecting himself, making sure everything he needed was there. He was that kind of man, he did not care how he was 'alive' but rather how he would keep it that way. The last thing he remembers was the cataclysmic destruction of a universe followed by a dark never ending void.

But now, he awoke, he was 'alive', or at least to a certain extent. Was it his soul that was inspecting itself? Or was he truly alive? Instinctively acting, the man tried to produce a light source, but failed at doing so. One after one his powers failed to work. Rage and frustration built up within the man, the exerted effort cultivated in the man falling unconscious

Present time

It had been years since Onslaughts fateful vision, but it still disturbed him all the same. A day where he would lose an empire and more alarmingly, his powers. Onslaught would cast the thought aside as he lands in this new strange area known as NBville. It was a peculiar place, filled with nuisances that simply irked the man in red. Seeking some amusement to dwindle down the boredom and stench from the area, Onslaught would seek a less boring location; a bar. Onslaught asked around for the most shady and troublesome one.

All eyes were on him as he entered the bar, his towering physique and menacing presence demanded attention. Coupling that with the fact that he was an outsider meant that every eye in the bar was on him. Onslaught made no heed of the weaklings, ignoring their glares and heading directly to the bar and taking a seat. The bartender was on the other end of the bar, but Onslaught made his order all the same.

Bruichladdich, The Laddie Ten, on the rocks.

The bartender arrived, sporting a threatening look and a wicked smirk. It was clear that he meant to make a mistake. Before he could speak Onslaught would glare at the bartenders general direction, manipulating the gravity around him and forcing the bartender to the ground, breaking his nose as a result. The pub grew starkly silent, with all eyes focused on the encounter. The bartender tried hard to move, but just as hard as he pulled he got slammed back onto the ground, breaking a few teeth this time around. The bartender looked up towards Onslaught, fear filling his eyes. It was only at that point did Onslaught cease his control, allowing the bartender to move once again. The bartender stood, disfigured and in pain. He mumbled something under his breathe as he went and poured Onslaught's drink. A moment of silence lingered in the air until it was rapidly replaced by loud laughter. It turned out that the bartender getting shit on was a common thing around here, as he would always regenerate back to a fully healed state.

The night went on, and with it, the fights came. It was everything Onslaught expected from such a place. Soon enough, Onslaught would catch wind of a death, a rather lucrative one at that. Seeking some easy money, Onslaught would finish his drink and exit the bar, heading towards the mansion.

Arriving at the scene Onslaught was quick to feel that something was wrong. Or rather, the lack of said feeling indicated something wasn't right. From what he heard the house was apparently haunted by ghosts, but his spectral sense indicated otherwise. He could not feel anything out of the ordinary, but yet, as he reached the second floor ghosts began to appear, causing different kinds of mischief and chaos as they did. It was strange. Initially ignoring the ghosts Onslaught scooped the area for the jewels, but soon enough the ghosts began flinging furniture at Onslaught while also manipulating the lighting. Onslaught growing bored of the situation would perform another scan in the area, utilising his EM spectrum awareness to find anything weird. He would notice electrical and radio signals going off as he moved. Putting one and one together, Onslaught would detect that the signals originated from a single spot in the mansion's basements. Onslaught would go down to figure things out. The closer he got to the basement the more violent the ghosts got, but it has little to no effect on Onslaught, as the flung furnitures were simply flung back through his gravitational powers.

Onslaught would discover a secret door that he rips off it's hinges. He enters and finds a withering old man on a computer screen. It turns out that the man had been using the computer to manipulate an elaborate light show and an intricate puppet system that allowed him to control the 'ghosts' and furniture respectively. Onslaught would quickly dispose of the man and utilise the computer. He would use the computer to look at the various cameras planted in and around the house. After some searching he would locate the family jewels. They were placed in a safe behind a maintaining in the main bedroom. Onslaught would go to the bedroom and remove the safe from it's place, crumbling it like a paper with his powers. Onslaught, seeing the jewels, decides to use them as decorations to his suite. The jewels would be placed in a gap at the centre of his armour, giving it an even greater regal look.

Seeing as nothing else was left to be done, Onslaught would exit the mansion and fly off into the distance.

Mission Name: Family Jewels
Alignment: Villain
Type: Solo
Rank: B
District: Inner City
Description: Hanging around your local villain's pub, you got a hold of a pretty interesting case. An old dude from Oldsylvania, an old neighborhood on the outskirts of NBville, passed away in his seriously over-compensating big ass mansion and left an heirloom of 2 perfectly round diamonds the size of golf balls. Problem is, he had no one to pass the heirloom, as all his descendants died in the same house. Worried by the ghosts that haunt the place, no one tried anything. While most of the grunts and minions there dismissed the case right away, you still couldn't help but think it might be an interesting mission, either to sell them or just for bragging rights!
