Mission Name: Family Jewels
Alignment: Villain
Type: Solo
Rank: B
Description: Hanging around your local villain's pub, you got a hold of a pretty interesting case. An old dude from Oldsylvania passed away in his seriously over-compensating big ass mansion and left an heirloom of 2 perfectly round diamonds the size of golf balls. Problem is, he had no one to pass the heirloom, as all his descendants died in the same house. Worried by the ghosts that haunt the place, no one tried anything. While most of the grunts and minions there dismissed the case right away, you still couldn't help but think it might be an interesting mission, either to sell them or just for bragging rights!
Reward: 40 EXP
Panthalassa does not fear any sort of ghost. And diamonds just seem too good to pass. In fact, the idea of finding money to get richer, and do something to inspire fear in the heart of every lowly grunt in this pub is just too good to be true. Besides, wasn't water a weakness of ghosts? At least one type of water, he would guess. And so, he heads on to Oldsylvania, a really barren and creepy oldtown in the outskirts of NBville, and stood right in front of the mansion.

He could swear he heard some sort of wail coming from the house... but that's just his imagination, right? MAybe he should have went in at daytime, not in the dead of night...

An ephemeral figure appears in the upper left window of the mighty, haunted house. It's that of a woman, dressed in all black with some red stuff running down her cheeks from her eyes--hold up, she had no eyes, and her dark, hollow sockets look down on Panthalassa as he stared at the mansion.

A flash of lightning from the night sky, the figure is gone.

He would be foolish to carry his journey any further into this the lair of Scornful Madeline II.

Panthalassa stepped inside the iron forged gates and there she was. Well, it was but a moment, but Panthalassa could have sworn he saw her.

STANISLAU!

He said, conjuring a giant ape.

Yes master?

Nothing, just come with me...

Panthalassa said. In truthness, Stanislau is unable to talk coherently, he's a bit dumb, so Panthalassa himself was doing the voice for him, and essentially talking to himself, as they walked through the gardens and reached the double-sized wooden doors of the mansion. Stanislau would have to squeeze in.

Continuing without an NPC, more efficient this way.

It was eerily quiet inside the big manor, even with the soggy steps the gorilla took on the ancient oak floor. Panthalassa kept telling Stanislau to slow down and be quieter, which only resulted in really loud "Shhs", flickering the light from the candle Panthalassa found, and very quiet and uneven soggy steps in a very comical dance between the two, since Stanislau was a big ass ape and not very agile.

They kept going over the staircase, and had the creepiest feeling that every portrait they passed through was following them with their eyes. Panthalassa remembered reading about this effect, but the only thing he said was "Shh". As they crossed the hall of the second floor, there were rows of armored stands lining the corridor. The doors at each side were pretty ordinary, even if lavish. They were a stark contrast with the door at the end of the hallway, which was big, dark and intricately woven.

Probably the main bed, eh? SHH!

And they kept going. He put his hand on the handle and it was colder than it had any right to be. With a little twist, it opened right through. Panthalassa pushed the door in, which creaked demoniacally, before taking a step forth. As he took a step forward, so did the ape, with the sloshing sound following, which was predicted, and so predictable it was that Panthalassa was already turning around to shush him, midway through the slosh, which, unpredictably finalized with a loud CLUNK of metal on the corridor.

Panthalassa and Stanislau gained a +50 boost to SPD as they bolted into the big room, and closed the doors.

Sorry for the sudden disappearance, but you know how it is when the squad decides to hit the beach ._. Don't drop me pls.

As soon as Pantha and his companion bolted into the adjacent room a voice floated behind them, almost nipping at the back of their ears (should the beast have one);

"That's it, run! SCRAM!"

If the voice were to be described properly, it would sound like a while cracking they way it hissed it's words with venom and disdain. But such was the demeanor of ol' Scornful Madeline II.

The voice came softer after, curious even. "But why are you here though?"

Sorry Zaph, already said I'd finish this mission alone.

As soon as Pantha and his ape got through the door, it locked inexplicably. Not only that, but the candle dropped to the floor and started to spread across the boards. Panthalassa could have put it out easily, just conjure some water, but, front and center, there was the huge wooden bed, Emperor Size, and, sleeping in it, was the corpse of the old man.

Could there be a creepier sight? The answer is yes. He found the heirloom diamonds, and both balls were just lying there, on top of the cover... right at the bulge of the corpse. Such delicacy, such poise. Panthalassa considered just leaving the diamonds where they were, and probably that's what everyone else thought, if they reached this far.

Hum... Stanislau... grab those balls... NO STANISLAU, THE DIAMOND ONES! Okay... now break that window we're out of here.

And so, jumping on the back of the ape, they landed on the garden, and left behind the burning home of the creepy old dude. First thing he'd do is sell this diamonds, probably for something cheaper than they were worth. As the house burnt, it seemed to wail, and Panthalassa could have sworn there was a figure in one of the windows, but surely that's just his imagination.
