Mission Name: Family Jewels
Alignment: Villain
Type: Solo
Rank: B
Description: Hanging around your local villain's pub, you got a hold of a pretty interesting case. An old dude from Oldsylvania, an old neighborhood on the outskirts of NBville, passed away in his seriously over-compensating big ass mansion and left an heirloom of 2 perfectly round diamonds the size of golf balls. Problem is, he had no one to pass the heirloom, as all his descendants died in the same house. Worried by the ghosts that haunt the place, no one tried anything. While most of the grunts and minions there dismissed the case right away, you still couldn't help but think it might be an interesting mission, either to sell them or just for bragging rights!
Reward: 40 EXP

This bar had become a favourite hangout of Cold's. He found two members of his team right at this very counter. He wasn't sentimental but it was clear something about this bar attracted his kind of people. It was also great for acquiring information. He had recently learned of an old aristocrat's death and the poor bastard had no one to inherit his treasures. He figured it was his moral duty as a citizen to reclaim those lost treasures and make them available to the world once more...for a price of course.

He decides to head to the house despite rumours of ghosts occupying the residence. Cold wasn't superstitious but he had seen some shit. Still, fear was an emotion and Cold had long forgotten those thanks to his father. The only vestige of feeling that he had retained was concern for his sister's well-being and his greed for material things.

When he arrives, he doesn't bother knocking. He just walks in with his field of cold energy surrounding him and begins scoping out the place, trying to best work out how to find those diamonds. Even though he's already surrounded by the sheer cold, he notices the temperature of the house drop quite significantly. Moments later, small items not in his immediate field of vision begin to move before stopping as soon as he looks in their direction. A gale of wind somehow blows through the house even though he shut the door once he entered and all of the windows were boarded up.

Technique Name: Absolute Zero
EXP: 20
Type: Energy
Rank: B
Description: This technique is always active as a byproduct of Captain's Cold's Crytokinetic abilities. Cold is always surrounded by circular waves of cold energy not unlike the rings of Saturn in appearance. These waves encompass 360 degrees around him and span two meters in diameter. They cool down the surrounding air temperature to below freezing temperatures. Any small projectiles (such as arrows, bullets, spears) that enter the field are drastically drained of their speed and momentum and harmlessly fall to the floor before they hit Cold. Anyone who gets caught in the field isn't as badly affected due to their size but as soon as they enter the field and as long as they remain inside of it, their speed stat is reduced by 20 points. Inside the field, all technology C-Rank and below becomes inoperable and regenerative abilities become ineffective (C-Rank and below), while B Rank Technology and Regenerative Abilities are halved in their efficiency

Note: This technique is always active but counts as one of the user's moves per turn for as long as the technique is active
Note: The user isn't affected by this technique

Leave this place.

Cold reacts quite nonchalantly, seemingly unfazed by the spectral voice.

Not until I get what I came for.

Leave this place.

You said that already.

LEAVE THIS PLACE!

Just then a lamp is flung in his direction, though it appears as it if just threw itself at him. He doesn't even move a muscle. The cold field surrounding him drains it all of it's momentum and it falls harmlessly to the floor before reaching Cold.

That was honestly pathetic. You could have at least brought the house down on me.

That must have angered the ghost, enough for it to reveal it's hideous and ghostly visage. When Cold doesn't react as the ghost must have anticipated he would, it rushes towards him in an attempt to possess him. He doesn't do anything to try and stop the specter. The ghost possess him or at least attempts to but finds stiff, unmoving resistance. It tried desperately to latch onto his being, trying to find some sorrowful emotion or painful regret to gain a foothold in his psyche but all it finds is the cold...and the dark.

You tried to scare me the with the cold earlier. I didn't even shiver... and now you know why. I'm frozen all the way through. There is no fire within me. No emotion. Nothing that can be used against me. I'm just...empty.

As he mutters those last words, the ghost breaks free of it's host and flees to the uppermost floors of the house. Whatever it saw must have given it a real shock, enough for it to leave it's treasures unprotected. It would have been a drag to search for everything but during his possession, the two souls were linked. It could see into Cold's mind and he could see the remnants of the ghost's memories, including where it had stashed the diamonds. After finding the right floorboard, he breaks through it and finds the two jewels. He stashes them and leaves that worthless place. Just like the ghost wanted.
