Chapter 3

Divided by Capability

While the students walked through the gates the scenery changed to that of grand and majestic buildings filled with vegetation and ample wildlife. With a tinge of modern architecture to balance it all out shocking all the students and confusing them as what was seen from outside differed greatly. Due to this, some students wished to step out to confirm what they thought only to find out that the entrance was gone leaving no way for them to walk out. While some voiced their displeasure most kept quite due to the fierce glares from the students and staff they passed, almost as if they looked down upon them giving the school a much more intimidating feeling.

"This is too abrupt, why is the scenery changing, while the staff and students give us death stares it's too much for me." Complained Tylo while Sylva was indifferent and was observing everything trying to make sense of what was really going on.

"Right sit down everyone, this is where we will decide your fate. Now quick introductions my name is Danius Lector call me Mr. Lector I oversee this establishment, which is aimed to hone your skills and dig out your potential. This Academy will broaden your horizons and make you understand how mundane and insignificant your prior life was. Take this as an opportunity of a lifetime and you surely will not regret coming here." Said Mr. Lector with a welcoming tone, leaving students to be less tense than before.

"However, anything that is revealed here will be kept strictly confidential, it is by no chance that you are all here. The first batch of citizens chosen was due to you, students with vague potential in terms of genetics and wit. You will be tested now into various groups and things will be explained after doing so." With that, Mr. Lector signaled to the nearby soldiers who then directed the students to form lines to be tested by the teaching staff for their aptitudes. Aptitudes to what they weren't sure of however, it was clear that it would determine their future here so they didn't resist.

Instruments were brought out alongside some archaic looking seats which was moved over to the hall. Everyone could tell that the equipment would test their so-called Aptitudes. Reluctantly the students sat down and proceeded with the check-up, soon after the result would be displayed on the screen and shouted out.

"Shaeli has no roots, weak constitution. Deemed Mortal candidate."

"David has roots, b grade, weak constitution. Deemed Cultivator candidate."

"Lisa has roots, b grade, strong constitution. Deemed Dual Candidate."

"Tylo has roots, S grade, strong constitution. Deemed Dual candidate." While Tylo's results were laid out, many looks of shock filled the faculty soon after returning to the normal stern expression. Tylo was still confused however picked up on the expressions and assumed that something about him astonished them.

"Sylva has no roots, Extreme constitution. Deemed Martial Master Candidate." Sylva only got some gawks soon turning to the same old stern expressions, with heavy sighs. Deducing it has something to do with ‘roots'. With that, he gave Tylo a small glance contemplating what it meant, however, nothing really came to mind.

With the sorting sorted, the results were about two-thirds resulting in mortal grade while the dual grade students numbered as low as thirty-two followed by roughly four hundred cultivator grade students. Then about two thousand five hundred martial grade students. Which meant there were as much as six thousand mortal grade students

"All those that are the mortal candidate step aside, some of the regular students will guide you to another area where you will be briefed!” Shouted Mr. Lector who seemed quite content with the results.

After the initial struggle to direct all six thousand students to another area the hall once again became deadly quiet. The students all curious as to what would be revealed in this presentation, while also wondering about what how these aptitudes are detected and why they would be so important to the Military academy.

“As you all may have assumed, your aptitudes are determined by some form of genetics or mutation, these cases play a factor, however, your aptitudes are all by chance while many here only have a strong constitution separating you from those mortal rank students earlier.” Explained the headmaster in a serious tone

“Now let me start, during the time before World War Three some archaic ruins where discovered by New Moon Coalition, this paved the way for terraforming and teleportation however what was left out of the public eye was something that could change the whole outlook of humanity.” Even with the explanations the students became even more confused they were just here for school why was the Third World War brought up here?

“With references to Chinese mythology the concept of cultivation of the body and soul was actually found to be very true.” Mr. Lector Rambled on with some of the nonsense he was spouting to be quite surreal causing some students to assume it was a big joke.

“Essentially at a time even before the dinosaurs which we will now refer to as Spirit Beasts, Earth thrived and had an immensely powerful civilization. The vast resources of the earth and all its wonders insured this. However, after a cataclysmic event, all traces of life were almost wiped out into oblivion. Earth was cruelly shaved down to the thinnest layer of crust taking away its resources and splendor. We do know the reason why this happened, ancient ruins were found buried deep underground. The remains were so far down that it wasn’t affected by the calamity, luckily for us, it was discovered.”

“Headmaster, this all seems so surreal, it’s not even April first, you don’t have to joke around with us we are only new students why bother fooling us.” Shouted a student who couldn’t handle the nonsense coming out of the headmaster’s mouth.

“Silence, if you do not believe don’t worry you will be enlightened soon. Now the reason why this happened is quite simple. Envy, our Earth was a hotbed of geniuses we apparently had one of the highest aptitudes as a Planet. However, we align with the Demonic faction, now don’t assume demonic as being evil. Demonic Cultivators had the most freedom and open in their actions, unlike those in the justice factions who do shady malpractices in the shadows. We do them in the open, however, that led to our demise as our actions are unrestrained we offended countless hypocritical forces.” Clamored on the headmaster causing the students to get more confused but at the same time riled up.

“Who would have thought there was such a thing, was what I saw around that redhead connected to this so-called cultivating?” thought Sylva.

“All we do know now is that the Dark Demonic inheritances are scattered deep underground on Earth, While the Grand Demonic inheritances are scattered across Mars. Now you can vaguely guess what this aptitude test is for, we are picking up from what was left. You will become our Galaxy’s new hope.”

“Whats up with the Dark Demonic and Grand Demonic Inheritances? Is there a difference.” Questioned a student catching on to the difference of wording.

“Good question, do recall that the ruins on Earth were buried deep underground, that is for good reason as the Dark faction of Demonic cultivators are the most vicious and cunning. They slaughter and pillage, the worst kind of the Demonic faction. Although aligned on the same side they let their desires get the better of them and deviate. Such actions would incur disasters and they only seldom reveal themselves rarely, digging their abodes and wealth deep underground to ensure their safety. However, those actions meant that these inheritances remain after the calamity.” Said the headteacher spouting what seemed to be utter nonsense but with such passion.

“The Earthen Alliance also known as the Hollow Palace has misaligned themselves following the practices of Dark Demonic cultivators due to how frenzied the earth is now. It’s no surprise especially when only Dark inheritances remain to be discovered on Earth.”

“The Dark Demonic cultivators has many ways in which to gain strength fast, using various unorthodox means. This mainly includes genocide, thus the current situation on earth not improving at all. Certain individuals have taken advantage of the war-torn Earth, powerful cultivators lay hidden truly taking Earth back to an uncivilized era.

As the Headmaster talked a projector was soon brought over directed at the white canvas behind him. Quickly turning it on showing the wonders of cultivation to convince these new students that what he was talking about wasn’t so surreal.

“Hang on why aren’t we practicing the dark arts if all of the inheritances on Earth are Dark? There must have been ruins on the moon. Doesn't this mean the New Moon Coalition came about due to these inheritances?” thought Sylva as he pieces together several facts causing him to sigh at the magnitude of what was being revealed to him.

“Sylva this is all so bizarre, this is most definitely confidential they won’t let us go after having been told so much. We won’t be going home in quite some time from the looks of it. **** mobiles don’t work they surely have taken all things into consideration.” Hypothesized Tylo concerned about what this all meant.

“Students, now with that all said and done there are certain things to be announced. Right away all belongings from your migration and items brought home have been gathered. You will now be teleported to a freshman training ground situated in the wilderness. The Death rate is not low, spirit beasts such as Dinosaurs have been brought back and released into the Wilds of Mars to create the optimal environment for cultivators. The aim is to learn cultivation and letting you experience life and death to harden yourselves to bring out your potential.” Shouted the headmaster causing some students faces to become pale, others frowning due to the sudden news of there being a training camp isolated and with potential death.

“No need for your dissatisfaction this has all been approved beforehand by the New Moon coalition for those that fail they will be revived however you will lose your right to cultivate wasting resources to restart your cultivation is not worth it. We aren’t as barbaric as those Dark Demonic cultivators but with the circumstances, drastic actions must be taken otherwise we will eventually be dragged into another cultivation Dark age.

“ATTENTION JUNIORS THE TELEPORTATION IS ABOUT TO COMMENCE, don’t worry your seniors have been through this and although the death rates are high the failures are revived and put into the mortal division.” Shouted Kayli in disdain, although these bunch has proven their worth with their aptitudes, in her eyes, they were still ants that could be extinguished with a simple thought.

The ground beneath them lit up in a menacing red, making all of them dizzy and disorientated soon vanishing from the Headmasters sight.

“I hope there will be more Elites from this batch, the Hollow Earth Palace is ramping up their cultivating quota even with their lack of resources, looks like it is a cultivation arms race. Within these couple hundred years, we have made quite a few ArchFiend Immortals, now with the immigration beginning it’s about time we go public.” Thought the headmaster with a frown.

As soon as the headmaster turned around a black shadow darted across disrupting his thoughts.

“What is it, anything important crop up?” Questioned the headmaster.

“Sir, we have had sightings of Dark cultivators, area Z-03 has been completely massacred we have found the remains of the teleportation circle. Seems like they intend to bring over Dark Elites of Hollow Palace, we assume they are here for the remaining inheritances and a chance to establish a foothold here.” Reported the individual with a vacant expression.

“Clean it all up and put the entire situation on lockdown, send a group of Masterclass cultivators to find any leads. Also, do not inform students of this, some of this batch just moved into Z-03 we can use this later to push them further.” Stated the head with a stern expression showing his resolve regarding the situation, unfazed by the bloody news he slowly took out dog tags with his name on them. The only thing out of place was those dog tags being dated back 600 years.
